I had a shit 92 Jetta with to many rough miles, no compression, and chopped suspension. It was an awful vehicle and my favorite car at the same time.

Actually my very first car was a `74 Maverick with an I6, but the engine blew while I still had my permit, 10 days or so before I got my full license.

I went to high school with someone who thought his Yugo was the best car ever. There was a picture of him in the school paper trying to do a "studly lean" on the hood.

From the same article:

"At this early stage we could not speculate as to what has caused the crash," he said.
You mean beyond the driver trying to break the land speed record at 2am?

Not quite 50 yards, but certainly 50 feet. I was bored, and found what I think is the spot on Google maps. It must have taken flight at the curb or so, and then bounced on the BMW.

If you zoom out of streetview, you can see what most probably happend. High speed, dark night, unexpected bend.

Hadn't seen the streetview, there was an Audi estate on the driveway too, so the TT's flight path was Hedge > 3 Series > Audi > House. Impressive.

Here's a picture of that full flight path to the house.

Not a very good advert for the house either, I mean if there was one part of a house that you'd think could withstand a car it would be the corner. Wonder if its even fixable.

Matty, I was wondering the same thing. That house didn't put up much of a fight.

Supposedly it has a tricky diff that handles it well and minimizes torque steer, but I imagine it would still be noticeable.

When the standard Focus RS with "only" 300 hp came out, Ford promised the same thing, but many reviews said that there was still a fair amount of torque steer. I always wondered why they simply never used the Haldex AWD system from the previous generation Focus ST. It's the same system found in the magnificent Volvo S60 Polestar, so I know it can handle the power.

They used it in the previous Focus ST though, which also had Volvo's 2.5T. I don't see why the RS couldn't have the same system with little to no modification on Ford's part.

I wonder if Top Gear is going to run with this. They have that running bit on Audi owners always parking their cars in places to screw up the view.

Don't things usually poop after they die? We pulled a dead guy from a Ford Explorer several months ago (I volunteer 2 nights /mo at the rescue squad), he'd had a stroke at the wheel then ran off an embankment, and it was gross. Poor fella.

But yeah, what's the deal with Audis attacking homes? I thought their ads were invasive enough.

A close friend of mine had parents who started their own "Bio-clean" business (they were retired EMT workers). One case involved a very portly man who had died, and not been discovered for months. He had melted like an ice cream sandwich on his bed, I was told.

The guy from the Explorer was ~300lbs, and it seemed like 1/3 of that was feces.

The car must have been traveling sideways upon impact. Front of the car hit the house corner. The rear initially hit the garage roof. Then the rear end swung off the roof while the front remained pinned in the house.

If the driver survived, he'll see the reason to have the driver sit on the left side. As it stands, he enjoyed decelerating on the passenger driver-side door.

The Corvette Stingray C7 has been announced for the UK and Europe. £61,495, with the Z51 performance pack (dry sump, LSD, uprated springs, cooling, brakes, aero bits) and Magnetic Ride adaptive damping 'with specific tuning for Europe' as standard. For comparison to other UK prices, that's about £10k cheaper than a base 911 Carrera, £11k more than a Cayman S, £15k cheaper than a Nissan GTR. Seems ok in comparison if you can live with the steering wheel on the wrong side .

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Ferrari scored a massive coup at the Int'l Engine Awards, grabbing the two top spots in the Performance area and each winning in their respective size categories. Well done Fezza. McLaren and Porsche also did well, grabbing top honors for their sizes too. Overall champ, however, is the 1.0L 3-cyl Ford EcoBoost, getting the nod for their little engine that could.

The battle car nuts have waited for, almost, while not the Focus ST, it's still an interesting comparo:

Ford Fiesta ST vs Toyota GT86 | evo TRACK BATTLE - YouTube

My nephew's wheels and tires came in for his BRZ, his "Summer set", and they provide 20mm more contact surface than OEM. Also, the Michelin Pilot Super Sports are much more grippy than the OEM Primacy HPs, by a long shot. I gotta say, I'm impressed, they completely changed the character of the car. While it isn't nearly as tail happy (re. "fun"), the car is so much more responsive and sure, the difference is striking, almost night and day. I really have to wonder, why didn't Subaru/Toyota just do this in the first place?

Exactly. Those 'modest' tires seem to be key to the fun factor. But I find it weird… since most Diesels this side of the pond come with those -truth be told- excellent Primacy tires as standard equipment.

Skinny tires with moderate grip are a fun, but it doesn't take too long to get tired of it. For this car in particular, multiple sets of wheels and rubber are practically a necessity.

I was at the Toyota/Scion dealer here the other day on unrelated business and noted that the two FR-S that they had in stock both had TRD wheel and tire packages.
