They must have been for it, before they were against it.

Wow, good for you, old man. You had to go all the way to Michigan to find liberal, big government Republicans? Newsflash: There are some crappy Republicans who are very similar to Democrats. Both need to be replaced.

If that's the best you can do, I think we're in really good shape.

You didn't even read the article, did you? Not surprising.

If there's relevant information to share, why not just include it quoted in the OP?

I'd say the most relevant bit is Eric Cantor pushing for a $3 billion in stimulus funds for a high-speed rail project in his home state, while simultaneously decrying stimulus money going to a LA-Vegas HSR as "pork-barrel".

Also, it should be noted he thinks the train in his state "will demonstrate that this historic investment in rail will create jobs, reduce congestion, spur economic growth and improve our environment", which sounds like a socialist nightmare to me.

Cantor strikes me as a typical top of the pile slimebag. Didn't he cancel a speech on income inequality because it was open to the public?

I think he's referring to the claim the article makes that Republicans campaign against the stimulus while surreptitiously lobbing for the money it provides to be given to their states for job creation. It makes the claim that Republicans from all other states do this, a claim which I find to be ludicrous.

There is hypocrisy in politics. Once monies are set aside by legislation that is passed, politicians will seek to get their hands on that money for their districts/states. Republicans who were strongly opposed to the Porkulus bill shouldn't also be vying for those funds, but that's the way politics plays out. I'd prefer highly principled, non-compromising politicians. The Tea Party tried to elect such a crop. Republicans who fall short of the general goal of delivering-Constitutionally sound governance and smaller, more limited government-should be ousted.

But if you want to have a pissing match, the GOP is light years ahead of the treasonous Democratic party.

Creating jobs, reducing congestion, spurring economic growth and improving the environment sounds like a nightmare to you?
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

AFAICT, the article focuses on the Michigan Republicans because it's a Michigan paper. The original article is from Newsweek, and covers a bunch of Republicans from different states, and specifically from people who campaigned as Tea Party candidates.

I'm saying that's how it should sound to the Republican/Tea Party House majority whip.

Which apparently it does, as long as it's in someone else's state.

Don't bring facts into this; they confuse some people.

To be fair, it's a pretty pertinent detail you omitted from the OP.

I think it's kind of weak to slam other people for assuming you provided all the relevant information. If it was just Michigan House members, I'd be with Big on this. Who gives a **** about some idiots from Michigan?

Apparently he wasn't aware that California is doing the same thing. I'm sure that had he known, it would suddenly become a bad idea if for no other reason because Democrats are doing it.

No, I'd be just as upset.
