My guess is the in-point I set on the video is a fair amount earlier than the one chosen for the gif.

There's a cut before the interviewer asks him again about his tax plan, and he says he doesn't want to argue. I got the sense there may have been some more arguing before the cut... or perhaps they wanted another take where he was angrier!
