That's what it says on the Newspage this morning. We don't get to find out what's going on until afterwards... wow.

MacCentral, MacMinute, and a billion others will have "live" information (in "text") as to what is going on during the keynote available on their sites.

It would be news if Apple would do a live stream of the Keynote.

You can usually watch the streams afterwards.

Any word on a satellite feed?

If I remember right, with the last one something happened to the internet for all the reporters so there wasn't even any text updates of the speech.

But what's the fun in that ?

I always used to watch the streams because you had the excitement. But with those after the fact streams you already know what's going to come.

Based on my experience in tuning into news during a recent keynote, macteens.com has excellent live updates with speedy servers. Most everywhere else either failed to update in a timely manner or was so slow in loading that it was intolerable.

If there's wireless internet inside, what stops someone from streaming the keynote to a VLC client outside?

The last few haven't been webcast either... that's OK though I don't think I'll be able to watch right away anyway. What would be really cool is if Apple released the video as a Podcast!

I thought that SJ stopped giving keynotes at Macworld, opting instead for WWDCs and private demonstrations. Has something changed?

Well, if you already had an Ethernet connection somewhere, there's no reason you couldn't attach your own wireless router to it.

Are we going to have a couple of people offer to stream the keynote so I can pull out my Zero Wing parody again?

Hey MacNN staff, how about a Peercast or a P2P radio stream? I have investigated, and they both work well for OSX users.

This Macworld seems terribly underhyped. i wonder if all we will see are minor upgrades to hardware and software to see us through to the July-Spetember shift to intel.

Not when you have a gazillion people streaming it at once and bringing the server to its knees.

People, MacNN's text-based site gets completely hosed every time there's a keynote. So do AppleInsider, ThinkSecret, MOSR, and all the other Mac sites that give live *text-based* news. Streaming any sort of audio or video would require a colossal amount of bandwidth and a whole bunch of really powerful servers. This is probably why Apple quit doing it.

Oh hell, I'm going to do it. If MacNN tried to put up a live audio or video stream of the keynote, this is how events would transpire:

In A.D. 2006

Keynote was beginning.

Tooki: What happen?
Demonhood: Somebody set up us the streaming server.
Nick: We get signal.
Tooki: What!
Nick: Main screen turn on.
Tooki: It's you!!
Millions of crazed Apple fans: How are you gentlemen!!
Millions of crazed Apple fans: All your bandwidth are belong to us.
Millions of crazed Apple fans: You are on the way to huge server bills.
Tooki: What you say!!
Millions of crazed Apple fans: You have no chance to survive get your loans.
Millions of crazed Apple fans: Ha ha ha ha....
Nick: Captain!!
Tooki: Pull out every "power cord".
Tooki: You know what you doing.
Tooki: Move "power cord".
Tooki: For great butt-saving.

^ P2P Radio and Peercast work like Bit-torrent. If you stream in, you have to stream out. Even someone with 56k modems can broadcast.

I have a copy of the keynote. It is 249MB high quality Quicktime movie: h.264, 480x272, 24fps.

I don't a means of uploading or hosting it, but if anyone here does, please PM me and I'll send it to you somehow.

Why not start up a torrent for it? If you download the official Bit Torrent client, under the file menu you can Generate a torrent for it. Post that file here. Then everyone can be a part of hosting it.
