I saw the thread about House and it moved me to start a thread about The Office. I searched around a little bit and didn't see any such threads (maybe I didn't search hard enough though).
Anyways, does anyone here watch it? Thoughts? Favorite characters? Favorite moments? Predictions?

I guess I should have been more specific. The US adaptation of The Office.

I missed most of season 4 and haven't seen any of this season.
The US version is exponentially better than the UK one, which I bought on DVD as a sort of impulse purchase (stupid Borders coupons).

You should get caught up! Season 5 has proven to be particularly dramatic thus far.

I read the updates on Wikipedia. I'll buy the box set whenever it's on sale for $20 on Amazon.

I think it's the only comedy I've seen in which every episode manages to make me laugh at least once.
I know people who can't stand it - they're all nuts.
My department at work recently got put into a new subnet. The hostnames for all our machines (we have static IPs) are Office related.

What are some of your favorite Steve Carrell clips from the Daily Show? His presence there seems to have been rather understated, but he has risen to fame very quickly. Just what, exactly, was his big break?

Yes!
I'd have to say Creede or Toby are my favorite, although they play supporting roles. Favorite leading role goes to Michael.
I'm pretty obsessed with the show too. Easily my favorite show on TV.

It's the only sitcom on network tv that I watch. I love it.
To Besson... The Office was Steve Carrells big break. When he signed on as Micheal Scott he was just "that guy from the Daily Show". Right around that time he also made 40 Year Old Virgin and the rest is history.

There was absolutely nothing understated about the "Even Stevphen" debate clips. Classic stuff.
There's also a hilarious one in which, to educate youth about the dangers of drinking, Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert go to a bar, and Carell proceeds to drink himself into a stupor (for real) while Colbert watches. Comedy gold.
My other favorites involve the "Slimmin' down with Steve" weight loss series and his interview on the "Straight Talk Express" with John McCain during the 2000 election.

Did we not have an Office thread? What is wrong with this place? We also need a Chuck thread..
I think this season is not as good. Season 4 wasn't great either.

Carrell did get some attention in Anchorman as well.

Which, coincidentally, is Stewart's best joke. The blank stare always gets the most laughs of anything he does/says.

There was one that initially got me watching The Office, which had to have been about three years ago.

Coming out of a ridiculous clip, yes. Carell's used to be in the context of Jon hitting him with the flaw in whatever logic he was using, I think.
Edit: And Brick Tamland is one of the awesomest characters this decade.

I have to admit I've never cared for The Office. It think it's because I've worked in too many places exactly like that, and I have no intention of reliving the nightmares. I completely understand the attraction, though.

Hahah, I loved that too!
I also loved one of his little convos with Oscar.
Oscar: I'm probably going to leave after one drink.
Andy: Yeah, with a hot slab of Canadian bacon in your hand.

I also like the German version ("Stromberg") very much. It is amazingly well done, and not just a bland copy.

Somewhat of a weak show tonight. It's good to have Toby back, but I didn't really like how hard they hammered on him. Also, Ryan is such a twerp it drives me nuts. And the whole microwave thing seemed a bit pointless.

good episode, not the best of the season but still good. The intro where michael goes back to toby's desk and screams when he shows up is hilarious. The microwave "topic" was weak but i think it was supposed to imply Jim was the one who did it.

Me too. He's one of my favorite characters. Something about the droopy look that's always on his face and the way he's unaffected by anything Michael says just makes me laugh.

What do people think about the house of Jim and Pam?
I dunno, I expected she would take that moment to announce she's decided to go back to art school...

I think you'll find that they are all English accents of people speaking English on a show based in England and produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation. 'Awful' to you perhaps, but not really a surprise.

I like them together. I thought there might be some issues with her being in NY and hanging out with her new male friend at art school, but that appears to be a non issue.
It was really frustrating watching Pam and Roy in seasons 1-3, so its good to see her and Jim seem to be right for each other and they're developing together nicely.
