Highs and lows; very funny and very sad. Quite possibly their most emotionally charged & poignant movie yet IMO.
A worthy successor to Finding Nemo.
Cheers

I never saw the first, though I hear it's excellent.
If you will allow me a minor threadjack about the first...
I'm assuming they cover the part where an Ellen type fish is like Wolverine from the X-Men. There's some dissonance with that and what I've seen of her character. How did they make that work?

If that question was for me, I really don't know how to compare them as i've only watched one X-Men movie, and i don't remember it very clearly.

It's for anyone who has an answer.
Forget the X-Men reference.
Tang fish, Ellen's character is a blue tang, have these sharp bone spurs which pop out near the tail. They use them to slice the crap out of you.
Ellen's character seems kinda dorky, but has what amounts to a biological switchblade. I'm wondering how they made that work. On the surface, the ideas seem dissonant. I'm assuming the Pixar people came up with some clever narrative device to make it work.
I used to want to be a Marine Biologist, so I've still got random fish facts in my head. Ever since the first one came out and I saw the main character was a tang, I knew the bone blades would have to factor in, and have always been curious how they did it.

let's just say that if Dory knew she had switchblades in her tail, she's forgotten it. She's very forgetful.

Very cute. My little girl had a ball, even though it did make her cry.

Nice! Better than Finding Nemo? Pixar don't always make great sequels...

Better than Finding Nemo? I wouldn't go that far. It "felt" heavier than Finding Nemo to me tho.

I wouldn't say better than Nemo, but it's close. Definitely a worthy sequel.

How different is it than every other Pixar film where someone has to find their way home?

Well if it is anything like Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Monsters University, Up or Brave then I would say it is very different.
