No kidding, got this from a fellow over at the MacAddict Forums...he works at an Apple Retail Store and a lady brought her TiBook in tonight and confessed to having "baked it in her over", and he's still trying to find out exactly WHY she did this...the entire computer STILL works after being fried except one RAM chip, and there's pictures to prove it! Skeptical? Click below...

Oh they've got black keyboards all right...the heat popped every single key off, in which she kept in a pile shown in 2 of those pictures.

ebisix,
Did you even look at the photos !!
You can see all the Black keys, they are melted and in a pile. The white you can see is what is under the keyboard.
Use your eyes !!

I did indeed look at the photos. However, I must have not looked close enough. Those black things were a little confusing.

why is that so ? obviously it wasnt meant to be stored at 400 degrees, or else the keys wouldnt have melted and the top wouldnt have gotten golden brown (does that mean it's done?)

Well now I'm offically not worried about having a power book and needing to keep it cool.

I REALLY want to know just what she was thinking?!
Old lady enters Apple store:
Lady: "Excuse me, young man. Can you tell me why my computer doesn't work correctly any more?"
Apple guy: dumbfounded look
Lady: "I thought it needed to warm up, you know, like a TV."
Apple guy: more dumbfounded looks
Lady: "Well, how much will it cost to fix?"
Apple guy: big smile

PowerBook sandwich: two slices of 12" with a 15" inside. Yummy.
I'm keeping my TiGig away from that kitchen.

I could guess how this happens with a guy... He buys new PB, wife unexpectedly comes home - doesn't know about new 3K purchase yet. Husband tosses it in oven to conceal it, somebody heats up oven before he remembers to remove it to make some Pizza Rolls and the next thing you know... THAT would be close to a good excuse for this tragedy.
I'm guessing her excuse is nowhere near as good as my hypothetical.
How sad, how every sad.
I wonder what an iBook case would do in the oven??? Probably like a big shrinky dink.

You know, I'm starting to think that this is the result of some sort of lover's spat. The woman gets mad at her husband/lover for doing something (or not doing something) and decides to fix his wagon good by putting his precious computer in the oven. She later comes to her senses and rushes to the Apple store to see if the damage can be undone. What'dya think?

Perhaps she was getting mad (like me!) about the fans in the new 1Ghz PB, so she manually put them off by cutting the wires.
And then she started to render a movie for some hours

Why the oven? That's easy.
I am sure she explained that some beverage was accidently spilled on the Powerbook and naturally she had to dry it out. I can see what happens when she is given a replacement Ti; police are called in and the lady says she only wanted to clean the powerbook. "I wondered what that racket was when the spin dry cycle started." She replies. They find the mangled Ti in the washing machine. Its keys are again put into a little pile.
This woman needs a restraining order from Apple NOW.

Perhaps they thought it was just a cookie sheet.. i mean it is only one inch thick, perhaps they looked at the bottom, decided to put their pilsbury cookies on it and shove it in the oven... or maybe she's got a kid who did it?
Either way I just wonder... cause most people who can afford a power book are not overly stupid... this one baffles me.

WTF?
Since when does having tons of cash mean you're not stupid?

From the Computer Stupidities Page:
Our tech support had a guy call in about a bad Powerbook monitor. It had tire treads on the left side of the screen. He repositioned his windows to the right, and it kind of worked. Apparently, the powerbook was on the hood of his car, fell off, and he backed over it. It still booted, but the tire marks were very visible on the screen.
