First question: Do you name your Mac?

If so, do you name your actual Mac as a whole or do you really name the Hard Drives.

And finally, how do you go about naming?

I named my external 250gig hard drive "Brandon", after a cute baby cousin of mine. I got a train icon from icon factory because Brandon loves trains.

I named mine after my gf, HYJ if anyone cares.

In the past I used to name it after myself.

My lap top (space intentional to keep Unintellitxt from linking to a rival manufacturer) is named Blender, and my desk top (sic) is named Spatula.

My brother's are Jason HD (desk top) and Mini Me (lap top).

My PowerBook's name is Margery Kempe (late 14th-century female mystic) and my hard drive is called "Penitence". My external LaCie backup hard drive is called "Salvation".

I named my iBook Shinitama, after talking with the actress who provided the voice for the character in Oni. Her and her boyfriend are big Mac fans, and she did the vocal recording for the game in Chicago

iMac = Fred, long name Fred the Killer iMac
iBook = Kathy long name Kathy the Deadly iBook
PowerBook = Vicky long name Vicky the Homicidal PowerBook

When I get a MacBook Pro I'll probably call her Anna the Serial Killing MacBook or something...

I don't know what is really with the whole death thing... it just started out funny with my iMac and is more a tradition than anything...

Really my dream setup is a PowerMac named Samuel with an Xserve RAID named Chronicles, and a set of three Xserves in a rack, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Jeremiah respectively
Personally I just think those'd be great names.

I have a pretty standard Marathon/Halo universe naming scheme.

PowerBook: "Boomer"
Internal HD: "Durandal"
External HD (Partition 1): "Cortana"
External HD (Partition 2): "Foe Hammer"
Airport Base Station: "Leela"
Airport Network: "Marathon"

My laptop's name is Lappy, named after the greatest laptop of all time. The internal HD is Alpha, and my iPod is Israfel (named after the archangels of water and music, respectively).

My current eMac is named "Hector" just because it fits for some reason.

My old iMac had two partitions, the sub-8gig one named "Panther" and the other 30gig one named "Kegger."

Powerbook.

It was easier then trying to think of a super cool name, and is kind of pragmatic.

I'm not big on naming my Macs - both externally and internally. I'm sure that'll eventually change, though.

On the other hand, when I gave my friend an iBook for her birthday - the first thing she asked: "What are we naming it?" like it was our child or something. Quite bizarre. We settled on "Lucy" for her iBook (because I'm an I Love Lucy/Lucille Ball fanatic), and just to keep things balanced, we officially named my iBook Ricky. So apparently, our iBooks are married. Or something.

My PB is named Bond.
My PC is named Dr No
My mom's PC is named Oddjob
My 'dead' server was named Blofeld

My Mac is the Good Guy in my Computer Universe, and the PC's are the bad guys. That's probably why I can infiltrate the network at the office without an account, while no other PC laptop can. Bond does his job well, very well

Thats not even remotely true. You can for example use one computer for dual booting either windows xp and your favorite distro of linux or mac osx and your favorite distribution of powerpc linux. you can also use one external drive to clone multiple internal drives so you can easily backup many computers on one drive(assuming it has the capacity), You could also use them to raid part of one drive with part of another drive assuming you don't want to lose the capacity or the reliability of one drive or if the drives are different sizes.
