Fink (fink.sourceforge.net) lists irssi packages, so that's probably the easiest way to get it.

Wait until April 29, or go back to Panther.

It was really simple to configure and install irssi from tarball (I already had glib installed).

./configure --with-perl=NO; make; make install;

i've been studying that fink info file so as to compile irssi on my own (dont really want to install all of fink simply for irssi). however, i cant make any sense whatsoever of their fixes to get irssi not only to compile, but also to actually run. anyone else figure this out w/o installing fink?

That doesn't work. It'll install it and it'll run, but it'll just sit at "Lookup irc.blah.net" forever. Never connects to any network or ip.

Same thing happens with the Darwinports and Fink versions.

Last time I compiled irssi I snagged it from the Colloquy source. I recall they had it as a separate project and that it was fairly simple to compile. Though I haven't tried it lately and definately haven't tried it on 10.4.
