I just don't give a name to my computer (other than the default) because I don't have a network and if I do, because a friend with an iBook comes for visit, my computer is usually the other one!

x.
Although, if I had a partitioned drive with one volume named Ishmael, I would name the other Isaac.

I've had informal names for my Macs, but I haven't taken the matter as seriously as most of you have.

Far from fiction, Don Pedro de Mendoza was the first founder of Buenos Aires. The second was Juan de Garay.
My 12" PowerBook is named AbulafiaG4, after the Apple that Jacopo Belbo owns in Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco (a must read, by the way).

No, it never was - it's called "untitled"!
The other 3 are called "untitled1", "untitled2" and "untitled3"...

My amplifier is called "amplifier" but the company wrote some weird other name on it.
My TV is called "TV" but sometimes I also call it Sony.
I call my telephone "my telephone" because it's mine.
The iPod was born with the name "iPod" and I still call it so.
My old car was called "Passat" but after a while I started calling it "car" because it was shorter - two years ago, I broke up with it. It's my ex-car now!

My G5 is Macthulhu right now.

Best was my last PC (long ago). It was named Cotton Mather. Windows made me feel like a sinner in the hands of an angry God.
