The Apple refurb store has a 2.66 GHz quad-core MP (Woodcrest generation) for $1999. And for the same money you can also get a better spec'ed out 2.8 GHz quad-core (Harpertown generation) there.

Ebay has some 2.66 for about 1800 or so. Craigslist in your area is probably the best bet, especially if buying used. You want to see it working before handing over the cash.

Just keep your eye on apple's refurb site. I did, and when a 2 ghz came along, I snagged it. I paid 1999.00 for my 2ghz a little over a year ago. I see the 2.66 ghz is 1999.00 now. Haven't seen the 2ghz in awhile. I would suggest you get a refurb from apple as you will get a 1 year warrenty with it and you can still get apple care if you want. I am planning on upgrading mine with two quad core chips soon. Good luck.

You can get a brand new dual, 2.66GHz MacPro @ MacMall on close-out for $1947.00. ($150.00 mail-in rebate) I'm waiting on mine now.
... and not very patiently I might add.
