When writing in a web page (like this one) or when my wife is using her Hotmail account we are getting incidents of sentences of text disappearing of screen only to reappear a moment later?
Anyone got any ideas what could be causing it.
It occurs in both IE and Explorer.

The difference being...?
First, make sure you have the newest version of IE (5.2.2). If the problem persists, stop using IE and get Chimera, Mozilla, OmniWeb, iCab, or some other browser that doesn't have this problem.
Honestly, if it's what I think you're talking about, then there's nothing you can do.

I have the same problem. It's not just Explorer, nor Web Browsers in general - Is sometimes get it in Word rather heavily.
Ever since upgrading to 10.2 / 10.2.1

For the record, I have *never* seen this problem outside of Microsoft's apps.
Also, this is the first I have read of any other browers having the problem. I use Chimera and OmniWeb all day long for months (years, in OmniWeb's case) and can say with certainty that I have never experienced the disppearing text bug that happens in Internet Explorer.

I concur. I've never seen this anywhere except in MS apps.

I've had the problem with both Internet Explorer and Chimera. OmniWeb doesn't seem to have the problem, which makes me think it to do with Carbon text rendering (though Chimera is Cocoa, it's rendering engine is still Carbon, right?)
It's really annoying

I had the same problem with IE and Entourage. I found that by turning off the text smoothing option in these apps the problem went away. In IE, go to the Preferences under Interface Extras and uncheck the text smoothing box. In Entourage, the box to uncheck in General Preferences under the General tab.

Thanks for the tip, it appears to have done the trick in IE, can't see a way to fix the problem in Chimera i suppose we will have to wait for version 1.0 or whatever when the preferences will hopefully be a little more comprehensive. It's (Chimera) still a cracking browser though.
