possibly from complications from cosmetic surgery.

she was his best friend and I feel bad for him.

"Hey Mama"

Forrest Gump mama said, life is like a box of chocolates
My mama told me go to school, get your doctorate
Somethin to fall back on, you could profit with
But still supported me when I did the opposite
Now I feel like it's things I gotta get
Things I gotta do, just to prove to you
You was getting through, can the choir please
Give me a verse of "You, Are So Beautiful To Me"
Can't you see, you're like a book of poetry
Maya Angelou, Nicky Giovanni, turn one page and there's my mommy
Come on mommy just dance wit me, let the whole world see your dancing feet
Now when I say Hey, yall say Mama, now everybody answer me (Hey Mama)

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
I guess it also depends tho, if my ends low
Second they get up you gon get that Benzo
Tint the windows, ride around the city and let ya friends know (Hey Mama)

[Verse 3]
Tell your job you gotta fake em out
Since you brought me in this world, let me take you out
To a restaurant, upper echelon
Imma get you a jag, whatever else you want
Just tell me what kind of S-Type Donda West like?
Tell me the perfect color so I make it just right
It don't gotta be Mother's Day, or your birthday
For me to just call and say (Hey Mama)

I always giggle a little when someone dies from utterly unnecessary surgery.

Plus I really, really don't like Kanye West.

Sucks for him, though.

They're saying in the media it may have been medically necessary. Do you really giggle over deaths of benign people?

While I dislike Kanye's opinions and what his mother brainwashed him with. I am saddened that this happened to her. Or that it happens to anyone.

Being vain can be one's downfall. Hopefully this will make others second guess before they go under the knife.

Surgery isn't like playing with Mr Potato Head.

Well then it would have had to do maybe with her weight issue. What other cosmetic surgeries are done to people that are NECESSARY that could cause death?

They are being very hush hush as to what exactly she had done. Not that I believe anything the media says.

Sources say Donda West, 58, received a combination breast reduction and tummy tuck and likely suffered uncontrolled bleeding after going home to recover from the radical operation.
One plastic surgeon who saw Donda West in June said he recommended she first get a cardiac stress test from an internist because of her age. He said she also asked if she could recuperate at home. He said no.
"Donda was pushing me, 'Can I go home after surgery?' But I told her it just doesn't work that way," said Dr. Andre Aboolian of Beverly Hills. "The most dangerous time after surgery is the first 48 hours. I told her you have to go to an overnight care facility with nurses who look after you."
Aboolian called West a "sweet" woman who almost talked herself out of the procedure during their conversation.
"She said she didn't deserve to have this done. She kept asking, 'Do I really need this?'" he recalled. "It's not like she was being vain. It was heavy on her body."

Wow that's really cold.

From what I read she went to one doctor for an unspecified procedure but he refused to do it because of a pre-existing condition. She evidently found a doctor willing to do the surgery.

The only loss of a mother that wouldn't make me sad is Hitler's mom. Then again, that might be sad if he cried.

Sorry, Kanye. Horrible way to lose a mother.

Well the tummy tuck is what likely got her. I've heard stories of those going awry. If she REALLY needed to lose weight she could have tried the old fashion way.

Any girl will tell you, when you lose weight, the first place you lose it is in your boobs.

Sometimes after weight loss there's huge flaps of skin hangin' around, maybe the surgery was for that. Can't diet for that, AFAIK.

Yeah, and the first place they gain it is in their butt. What's up with that?

My older sister put on some weight after she graduated from college and was no longer active in two sports. After a couple years she decided she'd had enough, and to date she's lost somewhere between 60 and 80 pounds (I can't remember exactly). She lost the most off of her midsection. What was her trick? Exercise and smaller portions. That was it.

if somebody I found to be obnoxious or otherwise sucky had their mother die, I wouldn't find the thread about it and post a "attempting to give a damn" .gif. He's not a murderer or someone you should hate. Some of you have problemos.

Yeah, but those aren't really going to weight her down. Those would be gotten rid of because of cosmetic reasons.

No such thing as freedom of speech on a privately owned forum. The people who own it can edit whatever you post here and make it say something else if they want. They own this forum.

Having said that, as long as it's not a personal attack against someone that posts here... .

Not that I am condoning personally attacking the lady.

He is not a murderer and I agree. But the man HAS said some pretty hateful things. Things that he claims his mother taught him. So there is going to be some people making said comments.

Not that doing so is right.

People die everyday. Just because he is a musician, doesn't mean his mother dying is news worthy or even important. It's important to him, of course, but to me, no.

Just because his mom's not important to you doesn't mean you have to go tell everyone that. I can see the SNL sketch now... a guy goes through the obituaries in the paper, making fun of each entry, till he gets to his mom's obituary where he breaks out crying, then continues making fun of the rest.

Ehh, that might be strecthing it a little far. Talented? Of course. He can make nice beats (if he even makes those) and raps smoothly over them, his music is definetly listenable (if you enjoy that sort of music to begin with). But musical genius? Beethoven, the Eagles, Bach, Mozart, the Beatles...Kanye.

Different levels of genius maybe?

No. Same level of genius. Different genre. Don't let your own prejudices in the way.

Is Michael Jackson not a musical genius for dealing in pop? Prince not one for dealing with funk?

OH MY GOD! SOMEONE DIED!

That's really rare. I mean, it's not like people just up and die every moment of every day.

How could you people be so cold about something so odd and unique as a middle aged woman dying.

Seriously.
Being in debt and celebrating a lower deficit is like being on a diet and celebrating the fact you gained two pounds this week instead of five.

So, are we supposed to feel remorse for Kanye's mom passing because she is a mom (in which case anybody else's mom dying would be equally as sad), or because she is a celebrity mom? If the latter, include me in the "don't give a rat's ass" crowd...

No, it's because he loved his mama…and it's really unusual for people to love their mama's so we need to feel extra sympathy for him…

No…wait…it's because he had such a hard life and his mama and him struggled so much in "the hood". Oh yeah, he grew up in an upper middle class suburb…

Man, sorry. I got nothin'

I'm quite musically trained, which is perhaps part of the problem here... I'm completely bored with most pop music produced today.

I'm not all that familiar with Kanye West's music in particular though, which is why I was asking you to explain what you find innovative about it so that i might be inspired to check out some of his music.

No prejudices, I said he is very talented.

I wouldn't quite call him at the top of his game however, as all the people I mentioned were, as were Michael Jackson and Prince. 20, 30, 40, 100 years from now, all of those people be remembered for their incredible and genre changing music. Will Kanye?

edit: i guess the people I would call at the top of that genre are/were Tupac, Biggie, Dr. Dre, and many more. I wouldn't even place Kanye in the same ranks as them, yet alone all of the other "geniuses" we were talking about.

Here is a general rap newbie question: what is innovative about any rap/hip hop music in comparison to the music that has already been put out there?
