Need reasonable priced Sony Camcorder which will work with relatively new iMac 24 intel especially for iMovie. Since my needs are for security, I do not need high end HD.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Switcher and damn glad...with iMac and PB who would not be happy!

ConsumerReports likes the DCR-HC28, although the Canon ZR800 is better and cheaper if you're willing to go non-Sony.

I have the DCR-HC26, and my iMac recognizes it immediately. It's a nice camera, it's easy to use, and it makes good pictures. If the '26 is nice, the newer '28 should be too (and CR liking it is a plus).

I meant "moving pictures," actually. While the camera has a "still" function, I have yet to figure out how to recover the stills. But I suppose you could indeed pause on a clear frame and print it, not that I've tried this.

Security? Do you mean you want a surveillance camera?

Not surveillance camera but camcorder to document any intrusion by unwanted neighbor. Sometimes occurs when I am working in front of my yard. Just need to record video and sound.
