So, I finally got to test the new MacBook out and one thing that popped out at me was that the MacBook uses a cheap plastic cover for the battery bay. That was not to big of a deal to me, until I set the MacBook back down and heard this cheap clinking sound from it. I am just shocked that Apple would send this out like that. It makes the whole MacBook seem really cheap. Overall the MacBook has its goods and bads but this is just strange that Apple would ship out the computer with a lose and cheap battery cover. I could not find much talk about this in the reviews so, sorry if this has already been discussed but are all the new MacBooks like this?

I played around with a macbook and noticed that the battery cover was slightly (and I'm talking real slight here) loose but definitely didn't feel like plastic. I think you're mistaken magicbumone, or maybe it's me who's mistaken...but I'm almost certain it's aluminum.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

100% definitely metal.

There is no room for doubt, nor grounds for discussion.

As for bending and fit issues, that's a different matter, of course.

Ok, thanks for confirming that its metal but my bigger concern is that cheap clinking sound when setting the MacBook down. I think it because the cover is loose just like this youtube video of a MacBook Pro http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbzx--isKN8
