My Macbook Pro started to behave strangely tonight. When certain keys are pressed on the KB, iTunes, VLC, or Quicktime will scan backwards to the beginning of the song/movie and resume playing from there.

It's incredibly irritating. I can't have an IM conversation or type without interrupting my music. I can't pinpoint which key is doing this. I don't have any shortcuts setup. I restored the KB shortcuts to default, and nothing in my Sizzling Keys (for iTunes) is this erratic.

Any input might help. Thanks.

Installed any new or updated software or OS updates shortly before this started happening?

Try resetting PRAM.

Actually, I've been delaying updates for a while. So I installed a dozen of Apple updates when a reboot didn't help. It still acted weird for a few hours, but a day later it was gone. I don't get it. Ah well.

Is there anything in System Preferences->Accounts-> Startup Items that shouldn't be there?
