I like to read the web on public transportation where there is no cell service, so I load web pages up on Safari before I get on the train so that I can read them in the tube. Unfortunately, Safari has this annoying habit of refreshing webpages when I reload the browser window, and since there's no service, the browser balks and the page goes blank.

WTF! There's no setting I can change to stop this, is there?

No setting but I think it does it so it doesn't load that page into RAM and bog down the system.

Get an RSS reader like Netnewswire.

an RSS reader doesn't help me with individual webpages that I get linked to, etc.

it will help though as it downloads the first part (which you can read offline) and you can just add it to your clippings to read later.

Other than that no idea on what else to do.

www.iwebsaver.com saves a page to your iPhone's memory for offline viewing.

Or take a screenshot of the web page, but sometimes that can be blurry.

I haven't used this application, but Instapaper is said to be a good tool for what you need. There's a free version here and a paid version Instapaper Pro
