Point taken, but that is a far cry from creating a product line from him, imo.

Then how do you explain the 32-foot glass cube in front of the 24-hour Apple Store?

I got the socks for me and my sis. I love them. Don't know how they are any worse than other cases.

Some cases let you use the controls and/or dock connector with the iPod in the case.

So what, and some cases are butt ugly and trendy.

I just wanted something to protect against dings as I don't do much other than pause and skip a track with my iPod and I can do that through the sock.

So many cases I see make the wheel so recessed that it is hard to scroll.

This pretty much answers your question.

I guess because we don't want a high end brand like apple making computers for poor black people.
Along with most of the other reply's.

The fact that this thread turned into a black and white thread (like apples computers lol) just shows that many are racists.

And those with the cobranding arguement, who benefitted from HEWLETT PACKARD ipods that were the same price as Apple ipods? Or U2 ipods that had no benefit to anyone other than a different color? (Black)

50 is not poor, he can afford a mac but some ppl cannot. He is trying to HELP those ppl less fortunate than us afford one.

Maybe I'm completely wrong and it's a horrible idea or maybe I'm not but the fact that some here don't think that "poor black people" should't be able to use a mac is just wrong and racist.

I don't recall anybody saying people shouldn't be able to buy a Mac because they're black.

Get me ONE quote from this thread that says, "Poor black kids should not have Macs" or equivalent. And then prove that the statement was stated to the effect that poor black kids should not have Macs because they are poor and black.

The closest thing you will find is Solo mentioning that perhaps better schools/education should be in place before we bring in high-end computers. And that's just a perspective on priorities (books or tech, which is more important?) and it is definately NOT racism.

The only reason race factored into this thread was because it was mentioned that if Apple didn't go along with this, they would be accused of racism. And this is not a far-fetched prediction. As a matter of fact, you essentially fulfilled this prophesy by condemning us all as racists simply because we don't think Apple should do this.

I think it would be great if 50 helped underprivelidged kids get Macs. As long as it didn't matter if they were black or white (because that would be racism). And there is no rationalization as to why he wants his own product line, with his own name on it. The most mention he should get is a thanks from all the schools, and maybe a plaque with his name on it in the computer lab, stating that he financed it.

Apparently we have different views on what comments are considered racist so I will not argue with you. I posted what the comment.

Also, I didn't see where 50 said that he wanted a mac with his name on it to be sold to poor black ppl.

There is way too much stigma (that is by no means misplaced) in any association with rap or rappers. Worthy cause or no, this will hurt Apple in the long run. And before you accuse my of being a typical capitalst who cares about the bottom line (as though thats something to be ashamed of) considere thsese things--

1) 50 Cent himself really isn't motivated by charity. He wants to cash in. He even said about his muscal career that its not about music, its about business. If he really had charitable motives, he would be buying a whole bunch of low cost Macs and donating them to the underprivelidged.

2) I truly feel that this would hurt Apple's bottom line--the less Apple makes, the less it can "be charitable." A charitable effort is only effective as long as it doesnt collapse under its own weight.

3) Related to point 1, if he really wanted to help those kids, he wouldn't care about having his name on the product line.

Make no mistake, this is not a charitable effort. It is just another chance for a rich man to get richer under the guise of something worthwhile, and it will, in the end, hurt us all. Now who's the real "capitalist pig?"
I agree, 50 cent is just an avaricious man and doesn't care about charity. Also I don't think that this will be any good for apple.

No, I said Apple shouldn't come out with an ultra cheap computer because it cheapens the brand. I don't care who they are targeting it to.
