Hey all.
I cracked the screen on my MacBook Pro. I took it to the Apple Store and they want $700 to replace it!
Is it possible to find a dead MacBook with an intact screen and pull that screen and put it on mine?
That said, if it is possible, does anyone have a dead 15" Macbook Pro???
Thanks!

Get it from iResQ for $500.

They'll overnight you a box, you overnight the computer to them, they fix the screen, and overnight it back to you.

Apparently Apple used six different screen options over the various revisions to the computer so they won't sell you the screen outright, but if you live close to them I'd bet you could dispense with the overnight shipping thing entirely ($99) and get it done for $400.

I used them to repair a broken hinge on my Titanium PowerBook G4 a few years ago. Total cost to me was $370. Apple wanted $900 to fix it. They did a great job. I highly recommend them.
