ok, though i dont yet have the ability, im wondering if it is possible to rip only a part of a dvd, rather then the whole thing (to my hdd).

for instance - instead of ripping a whole trek dvd, i would just rip one of the episodes, without anything else (to re-encode).

Everything ive looked at has only talked about backing up dvds to make a copy of the whole thing, which im not really interested in. any help would be appreciated

There's someone in my head but its not me...

0SEx can do that for you. You just have to find the title/chapter of the episode you want to rip, then select only that section in 0SEx.

Google for it (the first character is 0 as in zero, not capital "o"). It's the first link that comes up.

Edit: removed link
