I just upgraded my G4 to the latest firmware update, and all of a sudden I only have the built-in 256 RAM that came with it from purchase date Oct. 99. Missing was the 512 extra RAM I received from Ramjet in 99. I called them, they found the order on their system, and are shipping me new RAM for tomorrow with a shipping label to return the now bad RAM. This company consistently amazes me with great prices and unsurpassed service.

So, unless you want to go through this don't update your firmware.

Thank you Ramjet!!!!!!!

My 256MB modules from Crucial had no problem with the firmware update. However, prior to going ahead with the update, I contacted Crucial UK and they said they would be perfectly happy to replace any modules that didn't work afterwards. I think Crucial is a winner as well!

OWC (macsales.com) also guarantees that their RAM will work will the new Firmware updates.

Always had great service experiences with them.
