I have 2.66 GHz 20" iMac with OSX 10.6.4. It will not stay in sleep mode but will wake spontaneously, sometimes almost immediately. In System Preferences, the "Wake on Network Access" is not, and never has been, checked. Also, I notice that, after the set time has elapsed, it does not automatically sleep. Whether on the spontaneous waking or when I am away for a while. This makes me suspect there is something interfering with the sleep mode itself, but I have no clue what that could be.
I have reset the SMC, and run the diagnostics in Disk Utilities and IceClean for Preferences and the hard disk. They always say everything is fine. I have also deleted the Finder preferences so they had to be restored. None of this has helped.
My inputs are not wireless except for Airport. I have a CH Products trackball (DT225) and the standard Mac KB.
Anyone have any ideas? All suggestions will be appreciated and taken seriously except to go to a Mac Store. I live in NE Brazil and the nearest Mac Store in in North America, I think.
