In your experience does a computer itself or a moniter last longer?

I've never had a computer die, but I have had two monitors go bad (one bad main deflection board, and one bad cable).

Kinda looks like you've had a disk drive go bad, too!

just killed our pentium I this weekend, and have gone through multiple monitors since it's 1st incarnation, so I'd say the monitors go first...

The short shall inherit the earth. Just you wait. You won't see us coming. We'll pop out from under tables, beds, and closets in hordes. So you're tall, huh? You won't be so tall when I chew off your ankles. Mofo

a computer has a lot of parts. out of its innards, i'd say the HD would be the first to go. but in general, a monitor has a pretty short lifespan.
so the computer gets the "lives longer" vote from me. cuz you can always swap out the HD. thing is, most people upgrade their machine before the monitor would die.

My 6100 used to shoot floppies across the keyboard when it ejected them. They always landed in my lap. External Zip drives used to shoot out Zips too. I used to work in the art department for a clothing manufacturer. We all had Zip drives. Mine was on top of my 8600. The Zips would always shoot out and fall to the floor. Thankfully they got a 400GB RAID backup system, so we didn't need to use the Zips for backup any more. They were a pain.

I've had the same monitor(s) for about 7 years now... 14 in ctr... never needed to be replaced, just different adapters for the different computers i've attached it to (namely, weird mac vga->vga adapter)
that monitor has seen many computers go bad
oh well
monitors get my vote
