I have a Core2 MacBook. Usually I have it on my desk hooked up to a USB keyboard/mouse and a bigger display. When I leave I go to the Apple menu and select sleep. The MacBook goes to sleep and then I unplug the power, video, and USB and put it in my bag.

This used to work fine. But now, when I unplug the cables the MacBook wakes back up, even though the screen is closed. So I end up having to open it for a few seconds until the screen turns on, then close it so it goes to sleep before putting it in my bag.

Has anybody else seen this? It seems to have happened after the 10.4.9 patch.

Just make sure you remove all attached USB devices before it goes to sleep. Attaching or disconnecting USB devices wakes sleeping Macs by design.

With my MBP I hit sleep and immediately after remove the USB hub. By the time the MBP goes to sleep all USB devices are disconnected and it will stay asleep.
