This is pretty much the worst video ever made.

That was rather curious. An why doesn't she use her other hand? That's what a piano's for…playing with two hands and playing much more complex things.
All right, let's see the bitch play 'Tarkus.'

Maybe if she ditched that rudimentary Yamaha, it would sound better. Maybe two hands playing a B3 would make it better.

Which five?
Barbara Dennerlein has nothing to do with the chick the thread refers to. I was just showing a more interesting alternative with greater legs and musical talent...

The chick in the video is having fun, and the tune isn't too bad, so there doesn't seem to be any harm. But it sure isn't "the best music evar!"

I said "about" five. I know of at least one other - a veteran jazz radio journalist. We got to talking about the Hammond, and she asked me what I thought of Dennerlein. When I said I didn't really like her at all, despite respecting her proficiency, she grinned widely and shook my hand.
(She's also, from what said journalist told me, and from the interviews I've read, *quite* blasé.)
FWIW, I can't stand Keith Emerson either.

I reviewed a Vanessa Mae concert once. Not bad and easy on the eyes.

Same problem. Incessant noodling.
Most times, I prefer Jimmy McGriff or Patton over Jimmy Smith, too - though there's quite a bit of Smith that I really like, and it varies.
but don't get me started on deFrancesco.

Examples? Malmsteen does some incessant noodling on his strat. How do the prog keyboardists compare?

You hate everything don't ya?
Anyone who can do a very fast arpeggio or a fast solo seems to be bad in your book.

CD: Absolutely not.
I love Jarrett, for example.
There's a difference between the ABILITY to do a very fast arpeggio or a solo and the TASTE to do something musically useful or necessary.

My question is: what should Emerson be playing instead of his 'incessant noodling'? It's not like he's playing anything ultra-modern. ELP has probably exposed more people to classical music than anyone cares to say. Is it pretentious? Yes, in a way. What do expect of people who do adaptations of composers I've never heard of before?

I don't know. He probably wouldn't be Emerson if he didn't do that.
As for what to expect: I expect "modern" adaptations of classical music to sound something like Vanessa Mae, and I don't think you reaaaally want to hear my opinions on her.
As for all this "crossover" pseudo-classical adaptation bullsh¡t, I'm reminded of the old joke:
What's a Scottish gentleman?
A Scot who can play the bagpipes, but doesn't.
That applies to noodling, as well - pseudo-classical or not.
