I'm getting my new G5 in about a week. I want to get a World War II shooter and have heard that Call to Duty and Battlefield 1942 are both good. As I don't want to get two WWII shooters I'm looking for some advise. Which of those two games does everyone like the best and why?

Thanks for your help.

Call of Duty is the way to go. It has an amazing single player experience, and great multiplayer which is still pretty popular.

BF1942 is more of a multiplayer game, and now that BF2 is out, it's getting less and less popular...

RTCW Enemy Territory is free and is great multi-player with various weapons and classes (engineer, medic, spec-ops, field ops, soldier).
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

Thanks for all the input, guys. Looks like Call of Duty is the way to go for a WW II shooter.

CoD is a great game and possibly the best shooter for the Mac. Don't forget about Medal of Honor though. Besides the main game you have two expansion packs to work through.

How is Call of Duty multiplayer?
I like the classes and objective based play in ET.

Does CoD have anything like that?

Not stock, but with the help of mods, yes.

Heat of Battle is a team oriented CoD mod. And Merciless has a lot of classes and stuff like that.

CoD MP is dying out though... I mean, you'll still find servers, but they aren't as full as they once were. A lot of people have moved on to CoD UO and other games.
