I just saw the Two Towers for the second time tonight. Damn that's a good movie. It has everything I want in a movie:

?Epic struggle of good and evil
?Great story
?Solid acting
?Awesome cinematography (the first sequence flying around the mountain, etc.)
?Special effects that don't suck ass (surprisinly this seeme to be less and less common, when logic would dictate that it ought to be more common)
?Cheezy catch phrases like "Were putting meat on the menu tonight boys!" and "Is this all? Is this all you can conjure Sarumon?"
?Ending that is simultaneously satisfying and ominous
?Insanely awesome battle sequences (Gandalf and that fire monster, the last 45 min of the movie etc.)
?Nature kicks industry's ass!

Yes, it was damn good. I think I liked the first one better, but I'm not sure -- I'll have to see TTT a few more times.

I also thought Smagol was amazing. The animation, the model ... things like that that make me love the whole computer art industry. I hope I get to work on movies one day.

The schizo scene where Gollum talks to himself: god damn brilliant, IMO. Some people laughed at that part; I thought it was awesome, and my mouth was hanging open in awe. Just kick ass.

OK, I'm going to the movies.

I think i like TTT much better, especially the part where they're all prepared to defend the castle.

I will definitely get the DVD of this movie...

No, I got my dual-800 without the SuperDrive. At least it saved me some money ... which will end up going to a DVD player in spirit .

If you buy the DVD of this one, wait about a year after the FIRST DVD version comes out, so that you don't get RIPPED OFF buying one and then another and then another...

Fortunately, Peter Jackson is a DVD fan's director, meaning that when the first Lord of the Rings DVD was released last August, there was fully-available information on the official movie website about the Extended edition DVD being released in November. There was even a partial special feature listing, so you could make an educated decision on where to spend your money.

Me? Well, I bought both releases, and was VERY happy to do so, because there is no special feature overlap whatsoever. Also because I would like to own the extended version of the film (an extra 35 minutes or so) and also the version that I saw in theatres and loved. Look for the first Two Towers DVD this summer, then the extended one next fall.

The expanded edition was announced at the same time the regular version was, so nobody got ripped off unless they didn't know how to read the "Upcoming Releases" board at their local store.

I hear that. There are enough people around me buying it that seeing it isn't a problem. My money will go in the nicely packaged "SUPER DOOPER ULTRA EXTENDED TRIPLE MOVIE BOX SET!" version.

Yeow! LOTR 1&2 are so good that I'm willing to spend on both regular DVD and extended DVD

If Box Set is coming... I'll buy it again!

Too bad, I will be forced to buy Star Wars 1,2 and 3 DVD when Star Wars box set come out

You did? I remeber reading a while ago that you found FOTR so boring that you fell asleep in the cinema...i might be wrong.

As of myself, i really loved both movies.
I got the "Fellowship" extended edition DVD and now i'm anxiously waiting for the extended TTT set.
