2004

2003

2002

I usually stay a couple years behind new music, so these are some gems I recently found. Mostly I enjoy foreign artists such as Nek (who produces albums in Italian and Spanish.)

#2: The Tears for Fears comeback

#3: Talib Kweli - the year's best hip-hop CD, just edging out Mos Def's "The New Danger"

I had to disqualify Mutter because it was made in 2001, not 2004. So nothing I really liked. Where's cipher and swiz? They have pretty good taste.

It's imature to say "none of this stuff isn't any good".

It's obviously good to the people who posted it.

I wanted to write something along the lines of: respect other peoples' opinions. I figured that if we just stated our fav genre... you people would get the point. I started this thread to see what other peeps are listening to and to see if i can pick some new bands up.

Once again: it's pointless to say "none of this stuff isn't any good" because I would probably say the same exact thing to whatever you posted. So stop doing it in this thread and if you have a legitimite beef with a band, start a new thread and talk it out.

Or you can just post up your favorite 3 albums of 2004 and enlighten us.

Hey hey. Thought I'd join in.

Here's my top 3:

Gomez - Split the Difference

Ozomatli - Street Signs

Tom Waits - Real Gone

So these albums blew me away. Also got a big kick out of Bill Shatner and Ben Folds' Has Been, CAKE's Pressure Chief, and the Future Soundtrack for America (which also included Tom Waits' Day After Tomorrow from Real Gone. Great great song.

So basically I'll listen to anything, as long as it isn't mindless Pop and Hip-Hop. Basically anything who's lyrics read like VCR instructions.

Remixes 81-04 - Depeche Mode

Resta In Ascolto - Laura Pausini

The Beautiful Struggle - Talib Kweli

PS: As a long time fan of Rammstein I found Reise, Reise to be very disappointing.

The Arcade Fire - Funeral

Isis - Panopticon

Death From Above 1979 - You're a Woman, I'm a Machine

The jury is still out on Mastadon's Leviathon...although the artwork should be here, just because of the kickass factor. Unfortunately I can't find the sleeve cover for the deluxe edition....

i generally prefer classical, but i greatly enjoyed the coltrane and masada albums above. masada's live in middelheim was also good, but glenn gould deserves a place on my list even tho i didn't buy this particular album in 2004.

I like screaming, yelling and also nice riffs... So, Project 86, Demon Hunter and Further Seems Forever.

The Further Seems Forever video out right now is awesome, it's a cartoon of a guys life. Very powerful stuff.
