I live in a VERY small town. The local High School team is called the "Railroaders".

The closest college is Michigan State "Spartans". (20 miles)

Closest Minor league teams are the Flint "Generals" (15 miles) and the Lansing "Lugnuts". (25 miles)

Closest Major league team stadium is the Detroit Pistons. (45 miles)

Optionally, you can also post a team logo as long as it doesn't violate the inline image rule.

City: Charleston, SC

Minor league baseball: The Charleston Riverdogs (Yankees farm team)

ECHL hockey:The Stingrays (they have won their league championship)

Soccer: The Charleston Battery (A league, play against much larger cities .. they've also won their league championship)

There's no big league sports teams for about 4 hrs in any direction. We're about equidistant from Atlanta, Charlotte, and Jacksonville.

Nearest City: Stoke-on-Trent
Teams: Stoke City FC (soccer) and Port Vale FC (soccer).

Various local cricket and rugby teams which I don't know the names of. I don't do "British" sports, so haven't got a clue unless the team in question is really in my face all the time (i.e. the two soccer teams).

The team that we have here, OU. No pro teams, we do have the OKC Blazers (semi-pro hockey) though. Bunch of brawlers they are.

For some reason almost all English football teams have really boring names that mostly just incorporate the name of the city they're in and not a lot else.

Bozeman, Montana, USA

Montana State University Bobcats
Bozeman Senior High Hawks
Belgrade High School Panthers
Bozeman Icedogs (semi-pro hockey - I hate that name)

Growing up in Billings, Montana the teams were:

Eastern Montana College Yellowjackets (now Montana State-Billings)
Billings Mustangs (Rookie short-season Minor League Baseball)
Billings Senior High Broncs (my high school)
Billings West High Bears
Billings Skyview Falcons
Billings Central Rams
Laurel High School Locomotives
We had hockey teams too - Bighorns, Marlboros, and now Bulls

Best local team name, best team name ever, actually, IMHO -

The town of Belfry, Montana has the high school sports teams named the Bats.

They came into being as the "New York Metropolitan Baseball Club", but I think they may have changed their name officially to "Mets" since then....

Team name: Storm
City: Troms (Norway)
Sport: Basketball

I just thought I'd mention this because Norwegian basketball teams use English words as their names. English words combined with Norwegian city names result in the most annoyingly stupid team names imaginable and this alone has caused me to lose all respect for the sport without even ever having seen a basketball game. Fortunately, I don't care much for such sports anyway.

No offense to anglophones, of course. It's just that combining words like that is like a sandwich with raspberry jam and salami.

Fortunately, the Norwegian word for "storm" is "storm," so I don't have to be that embarrased about my city's team.
Making sense is overrated.
