I recently installed tiger and for some reason from that point on my WMP would not play. It would show up when I searched it as an application but when I cliked on it to open it never did. Then I just figured I was going to get rid of it sinceI could not use it or anything. After I put the application in the trash and tried to delete it and all of its sub-files a blinker came up that said it was "locked." It made me keep pressing continue because of the lock. I literraly must have pressed the bar like a hundred times and nothing ever happened. It just bugs the **** out of me seing it sit then there in my trash. I want to throw it out and be done with it! PLEASE HELP.
Thanks
Jmault

Finder menu --> Secure Empty Trash
Also, upgrading to Tiger requires that you reinstall Windows Media Player.
Edit: Two threads wasn't necessary.

I tried the finder and secure empty, but still it says item "htm" in use. Do you know what that is? Any other thought would be appreciated.
Thanks

I had the same problem when I recently tried to delete it. What I did was to just show package contents and go through everything, unlocking all files that were locked.

If a file is used by an application you can not (officially) delete it. You need to close the document or quit the application that uses it. If you don't know which application that might be your only option is to log out or reboot.

Just out of curiosity I copied WMP and trashed the copy to try that. It didn't work.

OK, I tried myself now and it doesn't say "in use" it says "protected" for me. That's something else. Emptying the Trash with the Option key held down works for me here.

In my innocent cross posting I got some advise that worked perfectly. For anyone who's having this problem just press and hold down the option(alt) key and then go to the menu and select empty trash. Work PERFECTLY!
