An "iOS 7" style icon and banner ad for the venerable iTunes controller app "Remote" has been spotted on Apple's Columbian iTunes Store, suggesting the app may receive a redesign in the near future. The free app allows users to control a desktop version of iTunes using an iOS device as the remote control, provided both are on the same Wi-Fi network. The app has remained basically unchanged for years, so a redesign for iOS 7 might also include new features.

The ad tile for the "new" Remote app has been seen "occasionally" in the Columbian store, reports MacRumors, and indeed the program is one of the few Apple iOS apps not to receive a redesign for iOS 7 yet. The banner itself is sparse, featuring only the word "Remote" with a redesigned icon in the iOS 7 style.

Apple could use the opportunity to integrate more AirPlay control into the program, or introduce other new features to expand the versatility of the program. The last update to Remote was last year when the "Up Next" playlist feature was added.
