Here's my new one: <a href="http://extremefood.com/product.php?id=4" target="_blank">Original Death Sauce</a> In addition to a bit of kick, it's got a nice lime undercurrent, with some cilantro and garlic in the mix. I got it for the first time on Monday and used it that night. Yum! I think it replaces the Jim Beam hot sauce my Mom got me for x-mas. That one's pretty nice too, with a bit of a smokey flavour.

IMHO, an untrained monkey can make a dish hot, it's the mix of spice and heat that gives one pleasure eating. So please, none of this macho crap "I ate 20 raw habaneros without drinking water," what's your fave hot sauce? Anyone make their own?

I like this stuff <a href="http://hotsaucecatalog.com/hs1326.html" target="_blank">Da Bomb Ground Zero</a>. It has one hell of a kick, but doesn't overwhelm the flavor of whatever you put in it. One drop in a jar of mild salsa rocks; I once put some 'treated' salsa on a turkey sandwich and it was pure heaven.

There are some great sauces under the brand "Jump up and kiss me!".

The Chipotle and Passionfruit sauces are my personal favs.

Good old Mcilhenneys Tobascoe for me. I'll drink the stuff raw if I could. Yeah I suppose that makes me a "wimp". Great on a Hamburger or Chicken

<a href="http://www.tabasco.com/tabasco_history/hot_pepper.cfm" target="_blank">Tabasco</a> is definitely NOT the hottest, but it is the best. They are the first hot sauce and still take the time to age the peppers for three years in white oak whiskey barrels. NO ONE else take that much care or pride in their products.

Say what you want about the Tobasco brand but I like it a lot. I do like others too though. A local dinner puts a Louisiana brand on the table that's also very good.Might be called Louisiana Hot Spot sauce. I haven't been able to find it in the grocery store.

Then you have your homemade sauces in a couple of places. For anyone in the Chicago area try a place called Main Street Cafe in Wauconda IL. Great place for breakfast! Try the breakfast burritos smothered in their jalapeno hot sause.

I like the "Pain is good" range of hot sauces, salsas and Bloody Mary mixes (just add vodka)

They make them in West Indian, Cajun and "plain" style. It's actually a US product, but Harvey Nichols sells it in London. Yummy.

Simple, but effective. I've been experimenting with hot sauce for 15 years, and this is my favorite.

Take Roma tomatoes, (they have got to be romas--no mistakes here) slice 'em in half, and roast 'em under the broiler until they start to turn black on top. (just a little bit) Maybe ten minutes. Combine in food processor with canned Chipotle peppers in Adobo sauce, about 1 pepper per 3 tomatoes. Add chopped garlic, chopped red onion, salt and black pepper. (I never measure anything, sorry) blend until it's all in pretty small chunks. Serve warm.

D@mn, that's gooood.

although it's not in the MegaHot category, i like <a href="http://www.tabasco.com/tabasco_tent/pepper_sauce/green_pepper_sauce.cfm" target="_blank">this one</a> from Tabasco. it's really tasty and you can lash the whole bottle on you burger, hot dog, whatever

i had all kinds of sauces when i travelled round the US last year. the best ones all had skulls on the label, or Death in the name, etc. i remember a little jar of paste i used to have in the kitchen though, called Old Gramma's Extra Hot Chilli Paste... or so i thought, but google didn't get me anything on that. i saw footage of them making it once. the women had what looked like gas masks on, so they didn't just totally die from the fumes, as they stirred the vats of the stuff! hardcore!!! \m/

Tobasco's pretty good, although I don't particularly like the flavour of their habanero sauce. The stuff I currently use is some Mexican hot sauce I get at a little Mexican grocers in town. I don't know what it's called though, and I'm not currently at home so I can't check.

If nothing else, I recommend you go to the store and ask for a sample (be warned, I was in pain for several hours after a single drop though).

What you really should try sometime is <a href="http://www.worldfood.com/ind/patak/relish.asp" target="_blank">Patak's hot lime or hot mango relish</a>. God's gift to hot sauces. You can cook anything with this! Try it. You'll be converted.

Dave's Insanity Sauce. Maybe the hottest in the world.

Once a friend of mine had a bottle in her suitcase. It broke, and burned a hole through one of her shirts.

Yes, friends, it's that hot.

If you haven't tried it yet, pick up a bottle of Tobasco's Chipotle sauce. It has hardly any bite, but the flavor is fantastic.

That stuff is hot no kidding. Not much for flavor as far as I can tell, but it's VERY VERY hot. I couldn't use it, and at the time I could "do" hot sauce much better than I can these days.

My favorite is the original <a href="http://www.asskickin.com/" target="_blank">Ass Kickin'</a> hot sauce. It has a wonderful flavor. I should look into getting some. Hadn't thought about it, and it doesn't appear to be available here. This thread is doing me some good!

In the absence of that one, <a href="http://www.melindas.com/main.html" target="_blank">Melinda's</a> is good.

I used to like <a href="http://www.brucefoods.com/lahs/index.html" target="_blank">Louisiana Hot Sauce</a>, to the extent of ordering it directly from Bruce Foods, but then I realized that it was full of salt.

I'm not a fan of Tabasco. I'll use it if it's necessary, but I'd prefer something else.

Perhaps this fellow has none of the heat-burning-ohgodhelpme receptors in his mouth.
Unless he practices Zen habernero noshing, this guy is immune.

Aside from the chemically-induced pain brought on by Dave's Insanity, is it quite strongly alkali. It won't eat through your shirts, I don't think, but it WILL go through the layers and give each shirt a nice bleaching.

the two i have in the house and use on a regular basis are:

Satan's Blood (800,000 scoville, 1.35oz for $25) and
The Hottest F u c k ing Hot Sauce (250,000 scoville, 5oz for $8)

they aren't the hottest around, but damn, good stuff.

satan's blood is labeled as NOT a hot sauce, but as a food additive. don't bring into direct contact with skin, the eyes, etc, etc

(and dave's insanity is far from being the hottest, its only around 200,000 scoville. blair's 3am reserve is the hottest sold i've seen, reaching just under 2,000,000 scoville. no thanks, i'll stick with satan's blood...its hot enough for me)
