They're supposed to be three apples high, but I didn't think that applied to flavor

When I was a kid, I used to watch the smurfs. I always found it strange that one of them (i forget his name) acted rather girlish. It was actually a bold move to put gay people into a cartoon, especially at that time.

The part they don't tell you is that you can get high off of licking them.

I always thought he was gay, even when I was a little kid, but perhaps I was mistaken.

That's Papa Smurf.

Here is Vanity Smurf

But you are right, he does seem pretty fem.

Maybe he was ahead of his metrosexual time.

The jpeg title lies. Both pictures you have posted are of the same smurf and both have white beards.

Wow, now that is strange. The first smurf I linked to has a flower in his hair. At least that's how it shows up on my computer.

I'd take a screenshot, but I don't have anyplace to upload it. There was this site imageshack.us, but it seems to be down and dead now.

Weird. I just hit reload and the image changed to one of Vanity Smurf. I think the site you linked to is having issues.

Indeed. I seem to remember one episode where they flashed back to Papa Smurf in his younger days, and he supposedly had a red beard then.

Either way, though, Vanity Smurf has no beard at all.

The only episode of the smurfs I remember is when they all got infected with some type of disease that made them hop around and bite each other. I think they turned all red and stuff, and papa smurf came up with the cure right at the last moment when he was infected. Sort of reminds me of the finale of G2 for transformers, and almost like in Duck Tales where they had the one series of episodes with the golden goose that almost turned the whole planet to gold and they had to chase around the goose to get it back to some fountain and Uncle Scrouge did it right when he was being turned to gold.

Ahhh... memories.

And wasn't there a Thundercats episode with the same theme as well? That seemed to make it rounds through all the cartoons for some reason.

No way! Just because I now own every episode of transformers up to the head maserts episodes and the movie really means nothing. They defined my childhood. I remember spending about two or three hours on the phone with my ex-girlfriend listing off all our old favorite cartoons (this was a dialog, not a monolog). I need to start buying G.I. Joe on DVD too - I have the movie (Cobra-lalalalalalala... that part always made my ex giggle) but not the regular season cartoons. Okay, I need to stop talking about my ex too... dammit, I need something to do!

Alright! Another TF fan I have Season 1 and 2 on DVD, if my wife would let me, I would have season 3/4 and BW as well. Are you still watching the new Energon episodes? Some of the animation is very nice!

I've never had smurf. However, this is supposed to be one of the dangers of eating smurf:

Gargamel didn't just want to eat the Smurfs; he also had a spell that could turn them into gold. Also, since he made Smurfette and Sassette, they must not taste like real Smurfs.

Another Transfan here! My favorite episode is "Masquerade" -- the one where 5 Autobots pretend to be the Stunticons. The part where they use Windcharger's magnetic field to form Menasor is awesome! Windcharger was my very first TF, so it was nice to see him get some limelight. I don't think he got much else until we saw Arcee with his dead/deactivated body in the movie.

Jazz was definitely my favorite (next to Optimus Prime). I just thought his design was cool - the first transformer I ever owned. I don't think I could pick out one episode of transformers as my favorite - there's just too many fond memories.

I always hated Prime. He was too much like Superman (another character I don't really like). I actually cheered when he died in the movie. I know, I'm heartless. My favorite TFs will always be Soundwave (the voice, the tapes, so crazamatic) and Megatron. I guess I'm just a Decepticon kind of guy.

I always thought it was funny to have only 1 girl smurf, Smurfet, and 1 smurf named "Papa," with about 1,000 other smurfs running around.

Her hips must be 3 apples wide.

I love when people over-analyze cartoons:

Reminds me of "Pooh and the Philosophers" - The Great Bear is wise!

Sorry, but real Smurfs are male, bald, and they come from the stork. Smurfette and Sassette (yes, there were two females) are faux Smurfs -- nothing more than Gargamel's creations. If anything, they're honorary Smurfs like Clockwork.
