Thanks for any help on this.
I had a number of documents created in Quark 6.5 on a Mac G5 (PPCchip OSX 5.8). My Hard Drive crashed. I had a drive recovery service save all my files (they did so on a non-Mac system I will guess.) I received saved files from them, which are now on a newly installed drive on my G5. The recovered Quark files have no extension (never did far as I know) and say "Unix Executable file" in the 'Kind' column. I received them in a .ZIP folder I reinstalled all my applications on the new drive. I have both Quark 6.5 and 8.5. I cannot open any of these Quark files from recovery service. I get this message: "This document cannot be opened by this version of QuarkXpress [16]" Quark Online "Help" Chat said to add extension suffix. Tried both .QXP or .QXD. This changed the icon to a Quark icon but neither file type would open in v6.5 or in 8.5. Help! Thanks.
PS -- Should've added that all other non-Quark files I received are good. JPGs, PDFs, TIFs, .DOC files, etc. All function fine. Seems unlikely only the Quark files are hosed. Hoping so anyway.
