With so many threads here in teh lounge, I'm just wondering how long it will take for the the site to add a whole new forum [in the troubleshooting section] dedicated to this little machine.

I'm relatively new here, so I don't know how long it takes MacNN to add such a level. Would any of you old timers know?

Considering that the iPod is one of the hottest Mac products ever and they didn't add an iPod forum my bet is that a Mac Mini will just get stashed with the eMac's and iMacs.

Ah
Makes sense, but it's entirely new product with some funky magical parts to it. Surely, the troubleshooting will need a dedicated forum to all mods/changes/upgrades/questions etc.

One could say the same if not more about the iPod.

Yeah but... ah, what the hell. I have nothing else to add. I'm off to sleep. I don't really know why I want another forum added... perhaps because I want one of the little buggers.

I am in the process of creating a Mac mini community at Macminiforums.com

I used to be an avid forum member with the G4 Cube at cubeowner, but Laurie is a raving lunatic abusing moderator powers. I'm making sure she, or someone like her, doesn't gobble up what I see to be a good product that has enthusiasm with the novice's and the people who like to tinker/mod.

macminiforums.com

I was going to put up a mailing list form for people to be notified when it's up, but personally I don't like handing out my email to unknowns and figured others wouldn't like it either. Hope to see some of you people there.

The 'NN forum descriptions have already changed to reflect the Mac mini, you'll find it smacked in with the iMac and eMac section.

On a related note,

with all the mac newbies supposedly created by the mini and ipod halo and imac, I'm still for a 'Mac Newbie' forum here. (I once brough it up in feedback, but it didn't get much attention... probably won't now either )

Just a place for sticky faqs and low threshold for those 'stupid' questions.

I do find it strange that MacNN doesn't have an iPod forum yet the new section tends to have so much about the iPod it's not even funny... oh well...

Problem is the people that know the answers won't hang out in the newbie forums. I'm all for creating an area with FAQs or a "switcher's guide" though.

Ala "OS X support" forum, where everyone went with a problem, and few people went with an answer.

That's fine with me... I've just opened a dedicated forum for the Mac mini. Please be sure to stop by as it tenders the entire range of users, from novice to hacker. As this product is released, it will grow as a resource for reference.

I plan on completely detailing its components when the "official test mini" arrives and gets taken apart.

Thanks.

We'll see. It's too early to tell whether the Mac mini will get the [deservedly] fanatic fanbase that the Cube enjoys. But I think we'll find that most of our readers aren't gonna abandon us!

I think you're reading too far into this Tooki. I'm not asking anyone to abandon MacNN (well, maybe a few but that's for other reasons). This is just a dedicated forum that has depth that couldn't be provided by a catch-all iMac, eMac, mini forum.

The forum already has photos of the mini, and its internals. A big difference than, "what are you going to call your mini?"

TBH, if I could have the # of visitors MacNN has... it would be unexpected and unprepared.

I like the forums, and pretty impressive machine. I have to admit, I love the idea of having a dedicated forum to the Mac Mini... hence, it is my post. But yea, I could never leave MacNN, I'm a slave to the lounge, my wine to my cheese. But when I do eventually get my little demon machine, whenever that will be, I will check your forums and who knows, I might be a member soon.

Good job. Cheers

Glad you're thinking about me little buddy. Obsess much?

Will you please stop it with all the "..."!

And please learn the definition of ironic for the love of God! Here, I'll give you an example of correctly used irony: "wdlove was banninated for his behavior in the lounge".

BACK ON TOPIC: Glad to see Mac mini added to the iMac/eMac forum. I just seems like a good fit to me.

God forbid that the Mac Mini brings new blood. I mean, if Apple becomes mainstream, that means all the Mac zelots will have to move to something less mainstream. Like OS/2 or Amiga.

The answer the original poster through MacmanX, dude, I could have said 'crazy matha fuc*ing parts"... it would not have made a different on the message. After a bottle of wine, anything makes sense.
