Ker-bump.

In an effort to make this post useful, I took another look at the Orion preview image...
In my opinion, the core design can be preserved fairly well using existing theming technology (i.e. Aqua constraints). The biggest losses would be some of Mikkel's Finder-specific metal window design and the simple borders around the menu and Aqua windows. It's largely because of this, the fact that such a design contains attributes that cannot be reproduced with ShapeShifter 2.0.1, that I personally feel that there should only be one themer to each of Mikkel's mockups.

If I were betting, I would put my money on the "none of these themes will get released" line. And if by chance any of them did, I would also bet on the "these don't look much like the original preview" line.

But best of luck to anyone working on it. Fantastic looking mock ups Especially Stealth.

these aren't themes yet are they...?

i thought that one or two groups were given all the PSD elements and they were going to work on the theme and release it when it was ready?

either way - i'd still love to get a hold of any PSD files related to these themes.

i just did a search for silk and found this thread, so...where can i find orion? or has anyone yet to make any of these?

am i going to have to cut up the orion preview and make my own poor attempt at making it, because i seriously want that orion theme.

ps, the others are nice, but...orion is nicer.

Only one has seen any progress that I know of, but will not be released. I'd love a copy of your orion if you get around to finish it Good luck!

which one has seen progress? and why won't it be released?

MM has given these screenshots... and intended to give the elements for people to use and assemble themes. if anyone has taken the time to make a theme based on these previews that have freely been shown, it would only be fair, and a much appreciated contribution to the Mac GUI community, if they were released.

digitaljames had made a little progress on Aquatic, screenshots can be found somewhere (I think on this forum). I tried persuading him to let me have a go at it with either his progress, or the original psd files, but he would not (no reason was given, and I wasn't going to press him). I messaged everyone else who might have the psds (including MMicons) regarding the themes; they all read my message but I didn't receive a single reply.

I guess MMIcons doesn't want anyone to attempt the themes due to restrictions that would limit their looks to nothing like the screenshots (I seem to remember reading something of this sort somewhere)... Seems odd that the site is still up advertising them, and that nobody will respond to me if this is the case.

Edit: I did a quick search: http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...17#post2692117
Yeah, kinda contradicts his original stance of 'see who can best reproduce it' but I completely understand him wanting to wait. I'm not sure if I would want to use those themes with how modified we would have to see them in the current SS. And I'll just assume he didn't respond to my message due to a flood of other similar messaged

i attempted it, but didn't get very far. i did the menu bar, but couldn't figure out a way to do the gradient for the menus.

i've never made a theme, only modded existing ones.

i've made an adium msg style, based on orion, but i'm still working on it.

Sorry to hear that. The main reason I didn't want to take a stab at it is because of the jpeg compression of the previews. I do think if done right these could make fairly nice themes, though not completely true to the previews.

Yeah... He did start the thread, it should be formally ended. And it especially annoys me that I spent so much time trying to get to the bottom of this and he can't even reply to my PM once he came back to MacNN after being dormant.

Look up a few posts. He came back about a month ago and made a comment about his themes (For some reason not in the thread about the themes)

True, though I have to agree with his idea. MMIcons could have at least posted something in his thread that summed up the answer to probably many many PMs he got. Although I'm sure you're tired of hearing me repeat myself. I'll quit it.

If you need somewhere to host them I've got loads of space and bandwidth I don't use.
