Lousy poll choices that force skewed results.

Personally I think the 4s rocks even though my old eyes would love a bigger display. I will be upgrading from a v3 on day 1.

The way I see it, you either are going to get one or you are not. And you are either happy with the announcement, or you are not. And so I combined those two options. Maybe the wording is slightly off, but there are not really any other options, are there?

I would say:
Disappointed, but I wasn't planning on purchasing one.
Disappointed, and I was planning on purchasing, but won't be.
Satisfied, but wasn't planning on purchasing.
Satisfied, and was planning on purchasing.
Satisfied, and wasn't planning on purchasing, but will be now.

Needs more options:

Disappointed, but I wasn't planning on purchasing one.
Disappointed, and I was planning on purchasing, but won't be.
Disappointed, but I wasn't planning on purchasing one, but now still will buy one.
Satisfied, but wasn't planning on purchasing.

Bummed is the wrong word.

Did i want to see some sort of ultra thin 4" screened 4G super phone with amazing battery life? Sure... but I'm still satisfied with what my 3GS offers and while there is probably something apple could have announced today that would have made me rush out to upgrade it the 4GS is not that thing.

I'm not really bummed about it though, since the truth is that I really don't need to be wasting money on new phones anyway. No long time fan should have been surprised by the iPhone 4GS. The writing was on the wall. We should be used to reading the tea leaves on stuff like this by now. The rumor mill always shoots for the moon and then everyone always gets all upset. It's all so predictable.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

It is what I expected, though I had hoped for a sleeker redesign. Not a fan of the sharp edges, but whatever.

I am pleased with the new innards, can't wait to get mine to start talking dirty to Siri.

I don't think a bigger screen is a lot to ask for...in fact I would argue that 3.5 is too small for 2011...in 2007 when this was planned out things looked different.

I understand there would be a reduction in pixel density, but Apple is leaving a big opportunity for Android by handing the market for larger screens to them. Also, the 7" tablets (Fire) look much more appealing next to a 3.5" phone than they would next to a 4" phone.

People have different tastes, I would like to see Apple address the maturing tastes of a maturing market with at least 2 screen sizes. I would also like to see them strangle this 7" tablet market before it develops into something. Hopefully this will come in due time.

1st iPhone: iPhone
2nd iPhone: iPhone 3G (named after 3G technology)
3rd iPhone: iPhone 3GS (updated 3G)
4th iPhone: iPhone 4
5th iPhone: iPhone 4S (updated 4)

Only the iPhone 4 was named because it's the 4th model, 4S is a spec update like the 3GS was a spec update. The naming scheme is fine to me.

I went with Looks cool, but I am not getting it. I've got a 4 and it's fine as it is for me, the new one is a nice update to iPad spec, but I'm in no rush for a new one.

I could possibly see them making a phone with the same outer dimensions but the screen being edge to edge - that would mean 4" almost exactly - but no bigger than that. Current Android phones with bigger screens only have that because they have a hard time meeting Apple's pixel count without it. 3.5" is already quite large.

So far, there are no successful 7" tablets. The Fire might become one, but we don't know yet, and anyway Amazon is selling it at a loss.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

I would have liked to see a redesign but will be getting a new one anyways. I also still like the iPhone 4 design. I will be giving my current 32GB iPhone 4 to my sister and her or my parents will give me $100 towards getting the 32GB 4S with my dad's upgrade since he is happy with his flip phone and doesn't want a smartphone any time soon. There are enough upgrades that I want this one but I wouldn't have paid extra to early upgrade my own account.

No decent iOS hardware. . . What are you looking for, exactly? The iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS are the best selling smart phones, for all the hype of newer Android designs. And Blackberry, really? Never was at all impressed with them, and it's a dead platform walking.

4G is still in the build-out stage. Many cities won't see 4G service until later this year or next. Meanwhile, 4G chipsets are still bulky & very power inefficient, greatly reducing battery life. I know, a friend has a Samsung 4G phone & he has to recharge his phone frequently. Qualcomm won't have the desirable combined chipset available until next year

N F C is still in its infancy & has at least a year until it's available

Siri ROCKS. You need to see both Apple's presentation & their Siri video online. This is beyond voice control & has leap frogged Android by a mile. Add to the mix the more powerful A5 dual-core CPU, I'm replacing my 3GS for sure

Cheers !

LOL, let me guess, you want physical keys.

I'm so glad Apple never gave in to that.
Clearly, physical keys are NOT the future, just look at RIMM.

Big Mac is the best selling beef-based meal*. Doesn't make it good.
I'm looking for a smartphone I want to use, not a smartphone I have to suffer through.

* Note I made this up. Doesn't matter.

Yes, it's about the hardware and messaging.

I completely agree it's a dead platform walking. And the Colt (2012Q1 QNX based phone) is going to be awful.

Storm and Torch are awful. Candybar is where it's at.

Conveniently everyone has rebranded the faster 3G standards like HSPA+ and even HSDPA to be 4G, so everybody gets 4G.

Yes, among other things.

RIMM's future, or lack thereof, has nothing to do with the physical keys. It has to do with the OS and organizational structure.

My wife is eligible given the contract age of her 3GS. We'll get it at the upgrade price, buy an unlocked 4S at full price, and sell the upgrade one. Seems like an opportune time to strike. I'll likely stay with my iPhone 4 unless, after hands-on with the 4S, it seems like a compelling upgrade compared to the 4.

Habit. When you're dealing with stocks and financial data a lot, that's just what you do.
Also, a lot of websites covering news stories do that.

My wife and I are both upgrading our 3GS's to 4S's. We are sticking with AT&T because of the cheaper data plan despite the fact that there's only Edge out in rural Ohio while Verizon has 3G out here. Don't want to spend $30 a month on data when we honestly stay within the 200MB limit pretty easily of AT&T's $15 plan.

I have to wait until the Mrs finds work before I get an iPhone. The way things are going we may be on the iPhone 6 by then. Until then, I'm stuck with my POS Dare.

Right off the bat I'd say the entire first panel is superfluous, and breaks up the continuity of the next three, not to mention how the image in that panel only fits the text insofar that it contains the two people who are supposedly speaking.

Also, a good joke needs an element of the unexpected. I'll bet everyone had a variation of this float through their head within an hour of hearing the news. I know I did. The joke was born stale.

1.5/5.

I have no idea whether it's supposed to be funny, or touching, or what.

If funny, it's completely failed.

If touching (as the last panel with Gates' face would indicate), then it's just completely superfluous and stupid in the face of the ACTUAL statement already made by Gates.

But hey, I'm German, so I probably just don't get it.
