Alright, I have the opportunity to get my hands on a 17' iMac G4. I don't know anything about these iMac's. The place I'm buying it from is selling it for dirt cheap either because they don't know anything about iMacs or they know its worthless.

The iMac is missing a harddrive, RAM, and CD/DVD Drive. When I plug the unit in it powers on and beeps once. Is this a good beep or a bad beep?

I found some guides online about cracking open an iMac G4 and they don't look too hard, just a little bit tedious... I'm more worried about throwing $100 down the drain on this one.

Also what kind of RAM and harddrive go into the iMac?
Retired: Dell Dimension 8200

One beep means "I have no RAM!"

I would get it. It will cost a couple hundred bucks total for everything. But in the end you would have paid alot less than what its worth. They are pretty nice machines, even if it is the 800MHZ version.
