I've since replaced this, but it's going to waste just sitting around so I figured I'd ask. My girlfriend's iPod just stopped working, even when plugged in. We can hear the drive attempting to power up and then shutting off and that happens about 10 times before it just gives the "sad Mac face" icon. I figured it wasn't the battery because it wouldn't even work when plugged into the wall.

Is this a dead HD? Something worth paying a bit of money to fix? Thanks!

Sounds like it.
