I downloaded the latest version of ATI Catalyst for XP for my MBP 2.16ghz C2D w/ 128mb X1600 - The driver installs fine, but the ATI Catalyst Control Panel will not open. I get a "MOM.exe could not be opened" error.

Has anyone experienced this, and is there a work around? Thanks!

Installing Microsoft's .net 2.0 solves the problem. You'll find it on the MS Website. Make sure to uninstall driver and the catalyst control center, reboot and install driver and ccc again - otherwise you'll end up - like I did - with a new error message that I haven't had yet time to eliminate.

Good luck

zaxi.

In case you're interested, I posted a how-to for how to update the driver as well as the catalyst control center here. The newer driver is quite a bit more stable than the driver that Apple provided.

Zaxi-

You are on the money. I just got a Radeon 9800 Pro and I got that message as well. I found your post, tried those steps and voila! it all works and I don't have the random black screen crashes.

Mike- Try it. Uninstall your ATI information. Restart. Install the Microsoft .NET from the Msft site. Restart. Then update your windows to update your .NET stuff. Restart. Then reinstall the ATI Catalyst drivers.

Good luck!
