is there a way to hide files for a time (instead of deleting them) so the system cant use them to see how things go without them? im not talking about extensions, i know how to enable/disable them...

ibook 300mhz 192 megs ram.

you've got a number of options. either use apple file security to encrypt the files, a utility such as resedit to make them invisible, or run multiple users to limit access to your machine.

Stuffit/dropstuff will effectively hide them too.
