Ok I just got my white Macbook yesterday, its already turning blueish on the palm rest and the power cord and brick are hissing and are to hot to touch. I love the white Macbook but I dont want this to happen again. I have a choice of the white 2GHz model with a gig of ram, or the Black with the gig of ram. I like the Blackbook but will it be like the ones in the stores in the first week? I mean i dont wanna have it look like crap. What should I do...? I can get iether one without paying anything! Apples taking care of me...

Get whatever colour you personally prefer. You're going to be looking at the Macbook every day! So if you really want a white one, get the white. And if is starts showing signs of discolouration, get apple to replace it! Although you did say that you don't want it to happen again, so its really touch and go with this. I personally wouldn't get that black Macbook that has been used by countless pepople going through the stores, many of them could vary likely have grubby hands, handled the macbook in a harsh matter etc. Also since the BlackBook has been handled by so many people, it may have marks or blemishes on it, if thats something you're not worried about then go for it! That's one of the major reasons i stayed away from the refurbished MBP's and opted for a new one! I cant stand any tiny markes on the machine unless i have made them myself. Yes I am a bit pedantic!

Apple will always take care of you! So either way in the end you will have an awesome machine!

Jason, I think he's saying he can get a brand new Blackbook for free in replacement of his Macbook. He's not getting a demo model, at least I think that's what he's saying.

The black will show grease and oil smudges and what not more easly than the white. With a microfiber cloth and some cleaning solution you shouldnt have a problem. I believe there is a thread about this.

Dude,

Get the BlacBook. Mine is pristine cuz I avoid Hot Pastrami sandwiches prior to use...I would wash my hands anyway, but you get the picture. The Eyglass cloth (Microfiber??) and H20 does work. My track pad looks fresh as well.

Just do it!!!

I'd go the Blackbook since you are getting it extra for free and since the Blackbook has extra 20gb HDD and the fact that it's more expensive you get more bang for your buck with the Black and I think that so long as you look after it, you'll be fine with the black.

McNewbie I dont get more bang for my buck because the discolored macbook I have is the same specs as the one they are giving me. Now its just a matter of Black or White. @ Jason and Heebs im not getting a floor model or a refurb, a brand new Black Ulitmate. Just like the one I have.

After carfully looking at the pros and cons of the Blackbook VS White Macbook. I've decided to go with the Blackbook, fingerprints are easyier to clean then discoloration
