Yeah, Italy and speeding: go with the flow, that seems to be the rule there. I made quite a few Italians very angry by sticking to the speed limit at a construction site. It was on a smaller road in the countryside where they couldn't overtake me because of oncoming traffic. That might have been an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Italian culture of using colorful and imaginative swear words

North-Central Atlantic has a similar "culture."

I was going to say something similar.

Roads have a “natural” speed. That’s what I usually go. I don’t really factor the actual speed limit into it.

On long trips I’ll go an unnatural speed.

Yeah, I’ve also had the experience in a different country where we’re all speeding and the rental car (I.e. me) gets pulled over while the locals keep rushing on by. Got a $650 ticket for just trying to stop everyone else from riding my bumper, but guilty of the crime of wanting to return at some point in the future. Now I just do the speed limit and **** the locals...
