I received this email message this evening to my MobileMe account...

MobileMe Update

We have already made many improvements to MobileMe, but we still have many more to make. To recognize our users' patience, we are giving every MobileMe subscriber as of today a free 60 day extension. This is in addition to the one month extension most subscribers have already received. We are working very hard to make MobileMe a great service we can all be proud of. We know that MobileMe's launch has not been our finest hour, and we truly appreciate your patience as we turn this around. Read this article for more details.

The MobileMe Team

While I would much prefer a perfectly working MobileMe, I appreciate Apple acknowledging the problems and users' frustration/patience.

Was this part of the extensions already announced or is this a new one?

I got the same email.

It's in addition to the original 30 day extension some people got.
No complaints from me. I had some problems but nothing like others have been reporting.

Free is good.

It’s a nice gesture but let’s face it: no amount of free usage can make up for a ruined user experience.

The customers Apple targets are users that don’t mind to pay a premium for a product that just works. They aren’t as concerned about the price as they are about the reliability and quality.

I’m definitely going to steer clear of mobileme after reading the rants of users that had all of their email bounce back for days (!) during the .mac product transition and no amount of usage extension is going to fix that.

At the very least this confirms that Apple acknowledges the problem which is a step in the right direction.

Would you like to perhaps give them, oh, maybe twelve hours to apply the new account settings to all of their users?

Sheesh.

i just noticed it right now.. it seems that iCal doesn't syc as often as mail does.. I'm not subscribing when free trial ends.. IMO Apple should just make it free when you register for a free itunes account..
