I want to know if it's possible because for some reason whenever I type the word 'mad', it auto-corrects it into 'Mad^', and even when I backspace and try to type it correctly, it keeps going into that.

Also, is there a way to have it so that it doesn't auto-correct all of my bad words? Well, I'm only looking to type the word sh*t but it keeps auto-correcting into 'shut'... I thought the phone was supposed to get used to how I typed?

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

You probably typed "Mad^" by mistake and left it that way once... Now iOS thinks that's a custom word you want to use again and again. Until Apple gives us a way to edit the custom dictionary, the only way around this that I know of is to occasionally go to Settings > General > Reset and Reset Keyboard Dictionary.

This will get rid of stuff you legitimately did want iOS to remember, but mistakes like your "Mad^" issue are also erased. Even after this reset, iOS will still auto-correct names in your contacts, which is a plus.

An editable custom dictionary is a feature many of us really want.

Didn't see the second part of your question...

When you type a word iOS wants to auto-correct, say you fat-finger "mw," the correct word (in this case "me" will appear as a pop-up. Notice in the correction pop-up there's a microscopic "X" to the right of the suggestion. If you hit the space bar, the correction suggestion will replace your mistake. If instead you tap the suggestion, it will go away, leaving what you wrote unchanged.

Hope that helped.
