My stupid iPhone game: Nesen Probe, it's rather old, annoying and pointless, but it's free.
Was free. Now it's gone. Never to be seen again.
Off to join its brother and sister apps that could not
keep up with the ever updating iOS. RIP Nesen Probe.

You would only be able to fly that in an area with ZERO air currents. All HVAC systems and air movement systems would have to be turned off. There are about 3 places on earth to do so.
Festo is an Pneumatic controls company. I worked with them is setting up systems for machines GM used to make car parts. I assure you they are as boring a company as any other to work for. Most large companies have teeny-tiny divisions where they do cool things. That is what they are showing you here.

Hi Debbie Downer.
To OP: Yeah, that website is pretty cool---they are developing some pretty neat things. I especially like the drive/flight simulator, because it's a much better design then the current ones (the hydraulic simulators that are insanely expensive). Neat find!

A funny-shaped helium balloon with moving limbs. What's the big deal?

They figured out how to make a device "swim" in air. That is a big deal. Not that it's practical, or even terribly effective as a toy, but the technology is quite interesting.

Look neat but other than advertisers using it tethered at some public event, don't see much usefulness of it.

There's no need for name calling.
I am being realistic. This is not the "next" thing in radio controlled toys. It's the "next" thing in average companies trying to brand themselves as innovative.

I saw this a while back. Very fun looking, but I also wondered about where exactly I would be able to fly this thing?
I like how small, battery powered, RC airplanes and helicopters are now super affordable. I like my toys.

I was thinking more of undersea probes, but a robotic bird would have some interesting applications as well.

Me too! My daughter and I (ok, more me than her) get a kick out of buzzing our little RC helicopter around the house. It drives the cat nuts.

Must be pretty fun to play with when you find the right place for it though.

I think the Air Ray looks fun to fly. I would agree on not being able to fly it most conditions. I guess I'll just stick my RC cars for now.

Do you race your RC stuff? I have a track near me and I race just about everything but off road.
Touring Cars 1/10
Slider
Vintage Trans Am
Mini-Coopers
1/12
1/10th Oval
Late Model Drift Oval
1/18 4wd trucks indoor
1/18 Touring Car
I'll be doing off-road racing this summer when the 1/10Traxxas Slash C.O.R.R. Truck is finally released.

I have two little RC helicopters. Sometimes if there is no wind, I'll fly them in my apartment parking lot. They always attract the local stray cats. I have become good at dive bombing them.
I picked up two really simple RC airplanes for about $15 each. They're a blast to fly around. I would LOVE to buy a bigger plane, but don't wish to make that kind of investment while living abroad. It would be a pain to transport overseas.
$20 for a small RC flying toy is nothing when you think about. Especially since they all seem rather indestructible.

Haha...yeah, I've gotten good with the RC helicopter. I'll make it hover right in front of the cat, and when he's ready to swat it, up it goes. Drives him nuts. I never get tired of this.
