I think it's that time again.
Yep, time to make another run for first.
This time it's in distributed folding.

If we do what we did on ubero, and throw everything toward distfold, I think we can hit 1st in a month, and while we are at it, we can send those pesky pirates to the bottom of the pond
I've already moved my entire deployable force over to distfold, and I suggest others do the same.

If cobramac and mikkyo do the same, we'll be all set.

So what do you all think? Are you ready to take first in a competitive project?
If so, join up.

Aw oh! Looks like I am going to get knocked down another notch.

What the hey! Let's go for it. 24,000 units per day on line now, and more to follow as current project units are finished up on.

From what I can see we need to vastly outpower every other team.
I'd like to see us doing 15million per day in 5 days, 20 in 10 days, and 30 in two weeks

Let's see if we can reach that massive amount of power, and start rocketing thru the ranks.

Well here's the thing.
We're OK ion Ubero if only cobramac and Mikkyo crunch for us.
There's no way we can get to #1 in SETI. No way.
We might be able to get a higher number, probably not #1, in RC5, with all our G4s on it. It's going to be solved soon anyway.

So, Folding@Home and distFold are our best bets for getting another #1 spot. We porbably can't do both though.

I would suggest moving users out of SETI and RC5 into the two protein projects.
Actual conversation between UCLA and Stanford during a login on early Internet - U: I'm going to type an L! Did you get an L? S: I got one-one-four. L! U:Did you get the O? S: One-one-seven. U: <types G> S: The computer just crashed.

I'm game. Like to see OCN talking smack after we power up...

Obviously we will need DAlex and enola back in the game. They powered down considerably after the race. I think DAlex quit completely for a while.

Puff, Puff. I'm so tired, need rest, feet sore.
Just finished a race here last week and busy catching up with you in
every other DC project. When you catch up with me on Dfold I will move the boys back.

Cobramac and Mikkyo are a must to make this happen. DAlex and Slipjack were putting up some really good numbers at the end of the race.

Skibikeski - You listening? Think you can talk the professor into loaning you the lab machines? Still would love to see you throw some water at me when you go past so I can eat mud pies.

As the longest Inactive member, I have moved my G4 350 Supercomputer over to dFold. That should do the trick.

Oh, and the real install page is up. That should help too.

Welcome back, Scott. You're back at just the right time to exercise some leadership. The troops were loosing focus after the race. Taking 1st in dFold is a terriffic plan. I'll just finish up the monster protein I have in F@H, then I'll be on it.

No, we don't abandon projects for others, especially not seti.
Team MacNN was a seti team before we expanded, and seti is still our flagship project. No we can't win it. That's ok. Our current goal is to stay in the top 50 overall, which will actually be a fight.

However, I have no problem with a 1 month deployment

Let's blitz the project, now, fast.
Hopefully I can run it hidden in win98

Glad to hear theres a good reason to go back to dFold. I'd been trying out F@H but I don't like it. I'll now be able to use my friends CPU's better since I can run foldtrajlite as a service. Now you'll see the power I should have had for the comp.

Welcome back! I see you've started to post some work units again. I was wondering what happened to you and figured you were taking a break. I was going to do the same, and well, obviously that didn't happen.

Yeah, kinda back, my production will be a bit low till Monday but should then start to ramp up again. Good to see you back and thanks to your brother for rejoining the party

SkiBikeSki: Can't wait to see those numbers come on stream.

Anyone able to contact Kevin? I notice he has shut down as well, he was producing some useful numbers.

I haven't gotten all mine switched over yet, but will soon. There were just a couple of other things including some benchmarking that I wanted to get done first, so that I wouldn't get distracted for awhile. I figure to have that all done before the weekend is out.

Folks, it looks like we need to do at least 7 million a day, just to hold our own against MDSP and continue our advance. That means we really need to crank it up. I know I can give at least 100,000+ a day once I get settled. Every little bit helps though. You don't have to be a big time cruncher with a small garden or farm, even the littlest iMac is welcome. I would really like to see some of our smaller crunchers get involved, and join in the forums too. We are up against some serious competition. It looks like we have 44 team members now, but I figure we need at least 100 to make a serious run for first. We can do it though.

(Oh wow! Just noticed I added another star under my name.)

Now if we can just catch that wiley Advertico and keep them down. They got a 5 Million unit jump somehow last week, because we had already passed em up and our crunching numbers haven't changed much. At first, I assumed it was KWSN, but couldn't find any evidence of it.

Anyway, once we get past em, it's #8 until MDSP comes rumbling up from behind. If we can double production one more time by increasing DF members, we'll be able to work our way into the top Ranks!

The answer to Advertico Highteq is in the dFold news, which is unreachable at the moment.

That team is a combined team. The "Advertico" and "Highteq.net" teams are being merged, perhaps their web sites merged or something. Anyway, members are steadily moving from the two original teams to the new combined team. We still track the two original teams, they are running out of active members to move.

Well I've sent out the carrier pigeons to get my mini farm back again for the dfold challenge, eight machines should be coming onstream tomorrow to boost my two. Hoping to acquire a couple more later in the week, plus a new cruncher for me (subject to the wife, a) not noticing or b) being to stuffed with chocolate to care ).

All I've got to do now is persuade my mate to stop crunching seti for OCUK and to lend me his mini farm too (hmm Hell and freezing springs to mind ).

oooo this is gonna be fun.

Which is more expensive, the new cruncher, or that years supply of premium chocolates? I suspect the cheap stuff wouldn't work.

Well keep cranking it up. My numbers have gone up quite a bit, and it will take you a bit more than a month.

Watch out for that Scott guy who is on your tail. He is out crunching both of us and Matt is still unkown as to his daily rate.

I pieced together some benchmark pages for other projects too, just look in the topic called "benchmarks".

Hmmm. The push for first place is not going too well. We are stuck at around 4.5M/day. As reader50 wrote on the team page, that doesn't scare anybody.

Well trying to help out a friend and testing the waters in a new project has got me spread thinner than a sheet of rice paper, and I won't be able to add any more power before summer, and then only if the pocket book allows. Looks like SkiBikeSki is gonna tone it down for the summer, jbcool is working on taking first place in Folding@Home, but might bring some power back over after he shakes things up a bit over there. If things go well, I will have another machine back on dFold in a day or two. Just too darn many irons in the fire right now.

Guess that means the only way to crank it up is to add more members. We can still move up another notch or two before we stall out, but we really need more people. Too bad they don't have an Altivec enabled client. That would bring a bunch of folks in a heartbeat.

Yea like I said it's Ski that dropped the ball. Guess I am going to have to pick it up. I should be able to move some help over by the end of next week or when RIP get a lock on me. Then I will have to kick the fuel to it and catch back up with slipjack. Just trying to play fair.

Speaking of playing fair I noticed that you are trying to catch back up with me on the Genome project. Don't make me slap you down.

Since Ubero doesn't yet have unit caching, I will likely have my PC running DFold over the summer, so I'll still be producing 65K units per day. My G4 will still run RC5 since it's so good at it, and I have to stay ahead of DocWest.

Haha, you will not have any problems achieving that.

I only have one G3 400 crunching part time on rc5 now. And I'm doing SETI on my iMac 400 again.
I have a severe lack of crunching power

Congrats. on passing the 300K mark, DocWest. I didn't see that happen, but I see that you're now at 306K.

PS If you're only crunching RC5 part-time, then maybe you should put something else in your sig..

PSS If you could only get a hold on 1 G4, you could probably pass me, just like old times. Then maybe we could have an official race between our G4's only.
