My friend received her new macbook today refurbished from Apple. The LCD has a defect in the screen in the upper right hand corner. Has anyone ever seen this before? It looks like corner of the LCD is cut off. She says she may be willing to live with it but is undecided about returning it.

It could indicate other issues long-term. I purchased a refurb MB last year and it was good as new, as is my refurb MBP purchased in November.

I'd return it. Call Apple and they will overnight you a prepaid return box, or take it to an Apple Store. My personal preference is usually for the prepaid box.

Yep, send it back.

I don't see any reason to suspect more problems, but it's unacceptable.

Fab problem. Send it back.
It appears to have multiple dead pixels.

Yes, send it back.

I'm 99% sure it's just a piece of protective covering gone on a wonk. I've seen it on desktop LCDs before.
