I just got a MacBook after going 6 months without a Mac, so here's my weak top 25 list. It actually won't change too much in the future I predict:

Is there a known bug with iTunes playlist duration calculation?

My library is reported as being 56 days long, which is far from accurate - my iPod has around half the music of the library (perhaps less), and is listed as 59 songs. Every song on the iPod is in the library, so the library should at the *very* least be the same as the iPod duration-wise (though realistically it should be twice that).

Is this a problem that arises once the library reaches a certain size?

last.fm if you asking how we compile the stats.

Copy/paste + a lot of editing if you're asking how I get them from last.fm to here.

Ah, I see. I thought you’d figured out some way to make an advanced smart playlist in iTunes that gave you those results.

I’m not on last.fm (and don’t want to be, either), so I’m afraid you’ll have to do without my embarrassments. (My iTunes shuffling has been suspiciously Céline Dion- and Mariah Carey-oriented since I posted that unfortunate tidbit on page one in this thread)

Edit: It’s like it knows when I post in this thread. Right after I hit “Submit” on this post, iTunes somehow managed to dig out, from underneath God only knows what rock, Whigfield’s (yes, she of Saturday Night fame/infamy) version of Last Christmas to play. Kerblimey.

I had started a last.fm account many moons ago, but just started using it last week. I'm digging it now. It's already helped me find about 10 artists that I didn't know I loved.

True that. I wouldn't have picked up Kasabian, The Stone Roses, Cat Power, Röyksopp, Arctic Monkeys, and to a much lesser degree Hooverphonic and Tiger Army. It also prodded me to finally get around to listening to some more heralded bands such as The Smiths and The Clash.

I rarely try to pass anything off as “english”. Normally, I aim for English instead.

I've got the same problem as a few others. I've changed my libraries so much that this only depicts my listening habits of the past month or so. I've basically stuck with soundtracks, but a few others managed to sneak in.

I have returned... 2020 MacBook Air - 1.1 GHz Quad-Core i5 - 16 GB RAM

Haha, I just noticed the genres, didn’t even see those before. I just saw Death Cab for Cutie, Bloc Party, and Mumm-Ra and couldn’t help myself.

The genre’s what are incorrect?

Yes.

Well, where I come from, they are. But so are Radiohead and Coldplay.

I don’t actually think that’s a bad thing, though. I love much of it myself.

The true definition of emo is that, when you listen to it, it reminds you of how you hate your dad.

Nouvelle Vague is another I discovered on last.fm (I believe their Killing Moon was being offered free). I think my favorite track as to be Too Drunk to Fack. The way the chick performs it is just perfect. Of course, I also dig palpable foreign accents in my music, so that helps.

Love One Headlight. Great cadence.
Is there a difference between the two I bolded? (Remix, Live, acoustic, demo, etc.)

My weeks have been very low lately with all the podcasts I've been trying to catch-up on. Doesn't help that I rarely listen to tunes at home thanks to Halo.

(gets out iPod)

My current 15 most recently played songs: (no playcount) <song, artist, album>

1. Milise mou, Grigoris Bithikotsis, Hrisi diskothiki 1970
2. Jambi, Despina Vandi, Stin avli tou paradisou Special Edition
3. Yenethlia, Notis Sfakianakis, Me agapi, o ti kaneis
4. Ke stenahoriemai, George Alkaios, Pro ton pilon
5. Me pio skeptiko, Triantafyllos, Hriso paketo 2002
6. Invisible Touch, Genesis, Genesis: The Hits
7. Agapi kırmızı, Sibel Tüzün, Kırmızı (Yes, another Eurovision contestant)
8. Oh Sherrie, Steve Perry, Street Talk
9. Xeniteia mou, Natassa Theodoridou, Natassa
10. Tipseis, Paraskevas, Mia zoi tsiftetelia No. 2
11. Stigmi, Natassa Theodoridou, Tosi agapi pos na hathei
12. Kravgi, Anna Vissi, Kravgi (another Eurovision contestant)
13. Sigharitiria, Anna Vissi, X
14. Otan pineis stin taverna, Stratos Dionysiou, Ta avthentika
15. Vgale to karfi, George Alkaios, Ta tragoudia mou - the hits

(puts iPod away)

(sorta) off topic rant: See song number 2 above. Notice the album is a "Special Edition." You buy the first album, which has 15 songs on it, and pay $20 for it. Then 8 months later, they release the "Special Edition" album, which contains three more songs. They expect you to pay an additional $20 for the Special Edition of an album you already have, to get the three new songs??? So the smart people wait until the Special Edition comes out before buying the first album. But then 8 months after that they release a "Super Special Edition" with 4 more new songs. Why the f*** don't they save the 7 songs for an entirely new album? (and this is an indie label, not one of the "big 4").

hehe.

That's what happens when your mother is American and your father is Greek. And you prefer Greek music to the stuff that they put out these days.

I do have a rather extensive collection of 1980s songs from the US charts, though. It's just that the Greek music dwarfs it by a long shot. Bet you can't tell which decade I grew up in.

On your rant, since I'm slow to jump on new music, I've been fortunate enough to grab the special editions without ever seeing the first release. (Killers and Franz come to mind)

That's what I've been doing, lately. If it's an artist likely to come out with a special edition, I wait. I've only been caught by the "Super special edition" thing once.

Have you also checked out Camille's solo stuff? Too Drunk To F*ck is one of my fav covers ever

Likely it's either the Live version (from Röyksopp's Night Out EP) or the music video that is badly tagged. I have friends over who obsess over this track at the moment. Hehe.

A few changes since last time (and Ms. Canada has been ousted from the list):

And for anyone who doesn’t know Eivør Pálsdóttir (two entries towards the bottom there), I am hereby ordering you to immediately check her out.

A few samples:

Rósufarið (from the album Krákan)
Brostnar Borgir (live version, from the Screaming Masterpiece OST—great movie, by the way)
