Because the others have done so well, why not?

Hot hatch lovers, good news! I love Ford STs, Focus and Fiesta, and this should be bonkers. Official word in t-minus 9 hours.

Rumors say AWD confirmed. Guessing at a $35k starting price to hit right around the Golf R and STI.

Ah, so that's where all of the extra weight in the 2015 came from.

Do you think both sizes of each iteration will be the same price or what? Sort of like a small and large shirt cost is the same.

The new Focus RS; dynamic torque-vectoring AWD (as much as 100% of power can be sent to individual wheels), >320 wheel horsepower, and intelligent magnetic ride control, with a manual transmission... all for $37-40k, depending on options. Sold!

Let's not. I made this to move car conversation away from there.

Ford Focus RS (2015) preview - specifications, pictures, pricing and more | Evo

It is the same basic engine as the Mustang 2.3 Ecoboost as the original article thought, but with upgraded bits.

Maybe its the dark blue colour where previous fast Focus's have been bright green or orange, but it doesn't look much more aggressive than the ST.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

There's the larger front air intakes, the rear diffuser, and the rear spoiler is larger (and actually useful now).

Yeah, the last iteration with its solid rear axle definitely couldn't handle a corner.

Most roads aren't nice, smooth tarmac. Add potholes and bumps, like you find on most secondary roads, and having an IRS makes a difference.

Don't like the results, complain about the methods.

The 2015 STI is 305hp/290lb-ft, 3402lb, $35k.

The RS is 320hp/320tq. The Focus ST is 3250lb, the additional weight of AWD will probably put the RS around 3450-3500. If they slot in right at $35k that'd be a huge blow to the STI.

I didn't say I don't like the results, I like American muscle cars, but there are a great many times when an independent suspension in the back comes in handy.

I sort of assumed the Focus was a European model not generally sold in the US. Like the Escort before it.

I always wondered about the garish coloured sports editions. The green ones stopped a while back here I think. They started with a car called the Mondeo. Did you have those?
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

It used to be, but after the '08-09 crisis (when GM went chapter 11), Ford started making their rest-of-world cars in the US as well - part of the "one Ford" program. I don't think they have any models not sold in the US anymore.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

American muscle cars are so much fun - but too bad they don't turn.

Some turn, the Camaro ZL1 and Z/28 are bona fide track monsters with some of the best performance in their class, and while others don't do it particularly well, like the Challenger, that's part of the fun. I have a `69 Road Runner with a big cammed-up Hemi in it, even with modern tires, roll bars, and a LSD it's hopeless for taking curves at speed, but when you get out of the curve; noise, drama, smoke... you open up those dual 4 bbl carbs and holding it in your lane becomes all you can think about.

I love MOPAR, I had a '70 Cuda 383 convertible years a go, sold it, sadly. Had Sebrings, farty Dart 340 & Swingers (straight 6 was a peach though) ... Always wanted the Hemi Cuda though. They are crazy expensive now.

But yeah these cars are pure brute force, snap your neck fast, imo a different purpose than our European cousins. I'l take it all though!

In the US it was called the Contour, we had it from 1995 to 2000. Universally praised for its European-like feel and handling, but as model years progressed they made the interior worse and worse after realizing that Americans wouldn't pay more for a small car that was well-options and felt good to drive. This was the peak of the giant SUV boom with the Explorer being extremely popular, the Expedition coming out in 1998 and the Excursion in 2000. The world car was deemed a failed experiment.

The Focus came out in the US in 2000 and split the difference between the outgoing Contour and Escort and was similar to the Euro version. However, the Euro version was developed and upgraded as time passed but the US version remained on the same old chassis. Finally after the gas crisis in 2008 the market for well-equipped decent-to-drive small cars in the US started growing and in 2011 we got the Euro-model Focus.

The European Ford models we don't get in the US are the Ka, Ecosport, B-Max, S-Max, and Galaxy. Also, the rest of the world gets the Ranger while that's no longer available here.
